Pioneer SP-BS22-LR $90, SP-FS52-LR $100 FS with Prime on Amazon SPC22 - $70

How do these SP-FS52-LR towers compare to the Polk Monitor60's towers that often go on sale for $100?

I've been doing a ton of research over the past week and a half and for the price point, these have been rated the best. I went to Best Buy and cranked em up and they sounded great, even without a subwoofer. Add the sub and it was bad ass. The wife isn't gonna like going from tiny little 5" speakers to these monsters, but daddy gonna LOOOVE his action movies now !

I actually went to Best Buy today to buy them using the ill fated $50 coupon, but they wouldn't honor it and we all know that Slick Dealers don't pay full price for nuttin!

it has been this price for awhile on tigerdirect during the holiday season which offered free shipping.

i was hoping that they offered this price at best buy when they had the $50 off $100 coupon. I used it on the FS52 floorstanding speakers when it was $125, which makes it $75+tax. I feel that it isn't that great of a deal if it would've been $50.

Also if you think that it sounds great at the best buy, then imagine how it would sound in your home. The ones at the stores have really bad setup since they are on aluminum shelving and non-ideal placement.

While this isn't the first time it's been offered at this price, Tiger Direct doesn't offer free shipping, and they charge tax, so you end up dropping over $120 anyway. $100 shipped is as slick as it's gonna get in my opinion, but that's just me.

lol it's funny. it's the opposite for me. I live in CA so they don't charge tax for me. They recently got charged tax on amazon here as well since Sept 2012. So it was a better deal for me during the holiday seasons at Tigerdirect.

I was able to score my first 2 FS52 for $150 when they had the Best Buy promo buy $50 gc and get $10. I bought the other 2 FS52 at $160 recently since I want to use them as my rears, but now im having second thoughts.

+1 for offer a good price still despite me getting it cheaper before.

Just to throw this out there for anybody considering the Pioneer FS52 for $100 each. Newegg has the Polk R300 on sale for $50 each. Half the price of these Pioneer and, IMO, at least as good sound wise. I would actually say better. Newegg is currently sold out of these, however. If you got the R series on sale, $100/pair R300's, $40/pair R150 and $50 for CSR. Les than $190 for the complete 5 speaker set, then throw in the SW8 Pioneer sub for $70. $260 total and this would whoop the Pioneer SP set.....and cost a lot less, as well.

Also, Polk Monitor 60 series II towers are often on sale for $100 each. Those kill the Pioneer FS52's for the same price.

I upgraded my Polk Monitor 50\30\CS1 set for the model before these and it was a huge upgrade sound quality wise. These are supposed to be better still, so...yea. Buy them if you need a nice sounding set for cheap.

The only downside is that they are a little unconventional looking, yet they don't look 'ugly.'

...those are the just discontinued model of bookshelf spkrs in the ops photo. The new ones have standard removable grills.

Bookshelf vs the Floor standing loudspeakers - would one be better than the other (apart from looks)?
