Pioneer SP-BS22-LR $90, SP-FS52-LR $100 FS with Prime on Amazon SPC22 - $70

Super, oh yes, definite difference. The floor standers have three woofers versus one. If you go into BB you can listen to both separately and hear for yourself. Just don't spend any money while you're in there.

Not only that, the floorstanding model (FS52) has larger woofers (5.25") than the bookshelf speakers (4").

That being said, the bookshelf speakers do sound excellent. I got a pair thinking I'd use them and the center channel as my primary speakers. I'm very happy with that setup, but then I saw this deal and had to jump on the FS52.

I do feel sorry for the delivery driver though, as the speakers are 30 lbs. EACH.

I picked up the now obsolete 21 bookshelves yesterday for $34.99 a pair, and my center and fronts will be here today. I only need to order a sub and I'm set. We even rearranged the furniture to put the couch center to the TV to take advantage of the surround sound.

Well with these speakers you really don't want to get a cheap, underpowered receiver. These speakers require a little more juice, being 6ohm and inefficient. The Yamaha RX-V471 is still $199.99 @newegg. That might work.

With a lot of receivers putting out high THD at 6ohms it has me worried about these speakers. Have you found any affordable receivers that have lower THD at 6ohms?

Just to throw this out there for anybody considering the Pioneer FS52 for $100 each. Newegg has the Polk R300 on sale for $50 each. Half the price of these Pioneer and, IMO, at least as good sound wise.

Still a Polk troll? Hard to believe.

R300 are good cheap speakers for the price, but that's all.

Grabbed a set of the 21's just now and the BS/C22's for fronts...wondering if just getting another set of 21's @ $34.00 is worth it or not... (don't have room for floorstandings at this time, unfortunately). Could use them for rears...but then I'd have extra speakers once I do get larger fronts some day...

FYI: Looks like the prices have dropped slightly lower with Tiger Direct. I chose them to avoid sales tax - and just pulled the trigger on the full set.

I don't have a receiver yet. My wife's already screaming - so gonna need to find something on the cheep that will work well with this speaker set and with Roku HD streaming. I'll have xbox, roku for plex streaming and blue ray hooked up, and shouldn't need many more HDMI ports. Can anyone make a good recommendation?
