Great product - been using this for a few years, of course in conjunction with Google Voice. Problem? Out of stock now @ Newegg :-(

Maybe a dumb question. I want to keep my landline. Can I use this to create an EXTRA phone line. What I mean is ... if phone rings on POTS (landline) line, then call is for me BUT if phone rings on Google Voice ( the OBi connected phone) then it is for another family member. Can I do that setup ? I don't want to pay anything to Callcentric for EXTRA phone #. If its discussed elsewhere any links will be much appreciated. Thank you

We did ours in less than a week for a cost of $21 total. Now our 14 year-old phone number is a google voice number. With callcentric for 911, we have full-featured phone service for $1.50/month. Some also use Anveo which is supposedly $.80/month for 911. |

My understanding is ooma will continue to work as free phone for the rest of its life vs obi will depend on google's mercy. Yes, ooma cost more than obi but from investment stand point, ooma might be a better deal down the road. if you have choice, which one you will select; ooma vs obi? |

Missed the deal a couple of days ago, grabbed one this morning to give it a try.
I was reading through the previous deal thread and there are conflicting statements about alarm services through this device. More specifically, my Father pays $30 a month (least expensive plan offered) for landline service simply so he can have his AT&T alarm service, which is $47 a month. Almost $80 a month to have an alarm system. If I could set this up at his home it would help defray that cost. Will it work? Thanks OP and repped. WB |

I have had Ooma for a few years now and it is awesome. Google, isn't exactly free as they collect your voice data - but there is no money out of pocket. Ooma has always been FREE, it's just the gov't who has imposed taxes/fees on the consumer. So Ooma gets nothing it's the gov't getting their cut, unless you buy Ooma's premier type services. I'm on the original Ooma machine and it is still going strong years later running 24/7 365. p.s. I also have an obihi, but I haven't installed it yet (had it for 6 months now). Just haven't had the need yet. |

If you use your cell phone, then it's international roaming. If you use the phone in your hotel, then it's international long distance. This is just a physical device. Rates will vary depending what service you use. Google voice, the most popular, has free calls to US and Canada. |

Is anyone aware if there is a way to use the obi110 to connect a dialup modem? I have a natrual gas measuring device that calls into company once a day with a reading and a telephone line is required. I have internet service at the location and I'd like to remove the telephone service and use just the obi.
