I've had mine since Aug 2002, upgraded the interface mini board with the USB board a few years ago and it still runs flawlessly. It's a steal at this price.

They are actually really great quality control panels. I had the SlikStik Classis cab and control panel with trackball, spinner and all of that but got rid of it in 2007 when I ran out of space. I think after Grad school, I'm going to built my own, similar to the Classic. There are just too many great fighting and indie games on the PC to not have a cabinet in the house.

Please note, if you're building an actual mame arcade, for the love of god don't just plop one of these on top and call it an arcade. Thanks!

ahmen! I HATED seeing nice MAME cabinet builds with stupid x-arcades just shoved in as a control panel. I never understood why people would do this. Designing and building the control panel was always one of the more fun parts of the MAME cabinet building experience for me.
Xgaming tankstick: $160. Trackball + encoder from groovygamer: $100.
Add in buttons + sticks + keywiz and you're about double the cost of a tankstick.

Also, designing your own control panel doesn't mean that you have a good control panel. I've seen very professional panels. And I've seen panels that look like a bag of m&ms were vomited across the top. Ever look at crapmame?

For $160, you've got a nice solid panel that includes almost everything you could want for two players (plus pinball) and you don't need to do any routing, measuring, or cutting. Is it purist? Oh hell no. But many MAME builds aren't even attempting arcade purity.

No, they only got faster after Capcom released Street Fighter II Turbo. It's just the same game clocked up from 4 Hz. It was a major breakthrough in chip technology and Capcom spun the division off to what eventually became Intel.

True story.

For me, yes. If you take the time to build an entire arcade, why not make a nice matching control panel? It's usually cheaper, you can customize the layout/amount of buttons/etc.

I could myself using one of these on my coffee table in front of my projector or tv.
You could just buy an old arcade cabinet and refinish it...save a lot of time and effort.

Plus, the tank stick has the track ball built in and everything. This arcade stick is fantastic so why not use it in an arcade machine?

Going to leave this here just to make you angry:

So it's an aesthetics thing?
I would say that looks aside, you really need a full-sized panel to have two adults play comfortably. I used to host parties and even with a full-sized panel, it could get cramped. I say go all out and get a super-sized 4-player panel for some Simpsons, NBA Jam and X-men goodness!

If you're not trying to make it look like an actual arcade, why bother? You can play the games on your computer monitor if you only want to play them. Also if you make it look decent, you might have a good shot some day of actually selling it for what you have in it.

Sweet deal, I built my own a few years ago.
No offense, but that thing is borderline Frankenpanel. Nice artwork though

I dont have a current picture of mine on hand, but this is it as I was programming it and finishing it up. I'm not at home for an updated picture, but full LED's with coin buttons, a green start button, and a red stop button. Cant beat building your own!

I had a Tankstick for awhile and liked it, but this one matches my cab and gives me ultimate flexibility

X-Arcade is working with Raspberry PI and MAME developers for direct plug-in support.
Same with OuYa and Nvidia peeps for using with Android/Tegra devices

This is a good deal for those who don't know how to build their own sticks and/or want a dual setup ready to go out of the box, but honestly these aren't that great. I would recommend waiting till the North California Regionals (March 24th - 25th) so there's an Xbox 360 MadCatz arcade stick discount available and then setting it up for PC's.

http://norcalregionals.com/

How to setup a MadCatz stick for use on PC :

Xbox 360 FightPads and FightSticks are uniquely compatible with computers running Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 1 and above. You may simply need to download the Xinput Driver from Microsoft.com to remedy the situation. Follow the instructions below to begin the process.

First, click on the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware...x?type=All

- Choose “Controllers” from the “Show Me:” drop down list and click “Go”

- Click on “Xbox 360 controller for Windows”

- Click on “Download Software” (Under the “Resources” section)

- Click on “Software for Microsoft game controllers, and gaming mice and keyboard products”

- Under “Select type of product” choose “Controller”

- Under “Select your product” choose “Xbox 360 Controller for Windows”

- Now select your operating system, language and click “Go”

You will then receive a link to download the Driver. Click on the link and select “Run” from the window that opens up. Once the file is done downloading, you may be asked what to do. If so, select “Run”

After the install is finished, you can plug your Xbox 360 controller into your PC and begin using it.

tankstick EASILY fits two adults comfortably. Spent hours playing raiden and TMNT at a party last weekend.

No comment on the dual stick.
