Where do I get my refund on my phone when I'm done with my 2 year contract? These greedy mongrels don't think we own our phones since we can't do what we want with the phones after signing a 2 year contract with them. Every year I keep seeing the greedy get greedier.

Also out off topic, is it me or is it starting to be a trend that the newly nominated presidents take vacations immediately after being elected? Was running for the presidency that much work?

screw the carriers i'm still going to unlock my phone. I just need someway to setup a foreign paypal and ebay account.

Yep, but at&t is a hassle and takes forever. Worth it to spend the 2 bucks on ebay to unlock it if you ask me. Unless your time is worth 2 bucks.

I started that process with AT&T and they needed a fax of the receipt etc. Well worth the $1.50 from Unlock Fusion

I guess I'm confused as to how this all works. If you're paying some person on eBay to unlock your phone for you, shouldn't you easily be able to unlock it yourself? Why are people paying for this?

While correct, it's a bit short-sighted to not be concerned. Down the road in 2-3 years it will impact everyone, as your little iPhone you have currently will be junk.

Iphones will ALWAYS have better resale value than Android. Any apple product has great resale value. They had great resale value when you couldn't unlock them before, and they will continue to enjoy great resale value. I prefer Android and have an Android phone, but I still recognize this to be true. It is always easy to upgrade my wife to the latest and greatest Apple product because I get so much for her used Apple stuff. Fact.

Just get an android and unlock it for free.

The page I read about this law stated it was for all phones not just apple devices.
Somewhere in there however there was a disclaimer about this law being invalid if the owner of the device owns the software?

As Android users don't we all technically own that software since it is open source?

Simple answer is laziness or it's easiest way. More in depth answer would probably be that for a mere few bucks you don't have to do anything and need zero tech knowledge to have someone do it for you. In doing so, in theory, minmize the risk of screwing something up. Also it could be different with apple products that you need network permission to unlock?
