I'm on this machine at Staples right now, it's pretty slow. It needs to have an SSD installed or forget it.
remove the pre installed crapware and it will be fast Smilie

as a start can use a tool like ,pcdecrapifier

What do you mean by slow? Slow boot-up time? Slow to open apps? Slow in browsing the internet?
Just generally laggy. Seems like whatever I click on, it takes a couple of seconds to do anything. I know it sounds petty, but over time it might start to drive me nuts. I'm not going to get it, it just isn't worth it without an SSD.

Maybe, but I'm not going to chance $450 and still be unhappy with it. Once you factor in the ass-pain and cost of swapping in an SSD, it's not a good enough deal for me.

intresting comparison in fw ,
http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/h...#m17517016

Between the 3 models, the q200e at bestbuy, the s200e, and the X202 at Amazon this is the middle.

q200e - 1.4 ghz processor, intel hd 3000 graphics, No BT
s200e - 1.8 ghz processor, intel HD 4000 graphics, No BT
X202 - 1.8 ghz processor, intel HD 4000 graphics, Bluetooth

I will say, this is the lowest price I've seen for the 1.8 ghtz model. Best Buy has had the 1.4 model for $450 and I think once it was $400. I've seen the x202 for $510 from Adorama.

I've also read that the wireless adapter and hard drive are easy to replace. so you could add a more powerful wifi/BT adapter and an SSD as long as it's 7 mm.

I bought my sister the q200 and they love it. I'ver been eying this. Probably going to get it now. For day to day stuff this is a great little notebook. hard to beat for 400. The only major drawback is that it's got a weak battery. You'll probably just get 4 hours with it. I would prefer 6-8 or so.

I see what you mean. Yeah that would definitely get old pretty quick. But I don't know, I think at this price it might still be worth it even when factoring in the cost of an SSD.

I'm really on the fence here. Originally I wanted a 14" laptop but this price is so tempting...

If I didn't have two ultrabook already I would jump on this, get the Samsung 840 pro for $200, swap out the wifi card with an Intel one and this baby would rock. Total cost would be $600+ $20 for the wifi card but with 5% cash back from Staples, this baby would be $600+ tax after all is said and done.

That's why I passed on the deal, that's too much money for an 11.6" i3 lappy.

I don't know about that. It's hard to find a decent deal on ultrabook with 256GB SSD and touchscreen. Touchscreen windows 8 ultrabook with 256gb SSD are around $1000 at least and there is no way I am paying that. I would rather get a cheaper ultrabook with a third gen Ivy bridge and do the upgrade myself. Even at $600 with SSD, this third gen i3 touchscreen is a great deal if you need portability and the SSD will increase the battery life not to mention that it is an 840 Pro Samsung SSD with 5 year warranty. I know the screen is small but for some people, a 3 lbs machine that boots in 10-15 secs with 256 GB SSD for $600 is a whole lot more powerful than any tablet, Android or iOS.
