If you have more legacy equipment that you keep running for whatever reason (PITA to migrate to new hardware, like an old CAD system with an octopus of cables and converters), you can't find new HDDs new 120gb or under, and the recertified ones were like $40 plus shipping. Slap this on an IDE to SATA converter and you're good to go with any machine that has that 137gb limit or whatever, esp. since some bios don't seem to recognize startup partitions off of larger drives.

I did this out of necessity once, and it was also nifty having a machine that used to boot in like 55 seconds be already at the desktop by the time the CRT warmed up, and I've never replaced the SSD yet (given past experience with the system, probably would have gone through 1-2 HDDs already given the dust and vibration in the environment).

I am still looking for a reason to purchase a drive larger than 120GB. I have a 120GB kingston hyperx and still have 75GB left after 4 months of use.

What do people usually do with all that space? Hopefully not file storage.

Isn't the whole purpose of a SSD to keep the OP system and permanent files for fast access while booting/loading the file/game? I'm a n00b to SSDs but I bought this one as I was waiting for a 120g+ to hit $80.

I am torn as well between the 2, here is a comparison [ssdreview.com] , Sandisk extreme has an slight edge in overall performance, but Samsung has better power consumption.

Here is some difference between the two:

Its like a flip of the coin for me, but I am leaning a bit toward the Sandisk, just don't like the idea of TLC nand but yet charging the same price as MLC

I don't mind the Rebate but your are right about the accessories, I thought it was just a bare drive, guess there is always next time, besides I am still waiting for an lower price point.
