Houston Sawyer Park store still has one. I decided to pass after realizing the battery was 4-cell and no optical drive. I'd probably rather just go the tablet route in that case.

However, deal is on if someone wants to drive there and snag it.

CPU is marginal...gonna pass but still a good deal if it meets your needs, TU.

definitely good deal for a lower-end cpu. nice find OP. if i had one nearby i would get it.

I see a couple people mentioning going with a tab over this. The problem with that is that any tablet which competes with this "sleekbook" would run $800+. Just a thought. You can pick up a second battery or a 6-cell for ~$100 and an external optical drive for like $30.

Big reason to say no to this "deal" is the processor. $200 for a 14" laptop with 4gb mem, 320gb hdd, and a 720p screen isnt too bad, plus w8. But I think you'll see deals down the line for $300 with a decent i3. This processor is just too bad. I would say the 5400rpm hdd wont help either, but w8 actually does fine on a 5400rpm. My god though, that processor sucks. If I had a second reason, it would be that you might not get your rebate. Not worth the risk.

Well, first of all, why shouldn't I get the rebate? I see no risk there. Secondly, check the specs on the older i3's that would fall into the $300 price range and you will find that they are pretty similar to this one. I'm betting you didn't even look up the specs before you posted. Also, $100 difference is huge for a minimal gain in processor that most normal users wouldn't even notice.

Plus, this is the deal right now. With computers you can always wait and get a "better deal" in the future. In fact, why not wait 3 years and get a i7 for under $300.

This is a good deal for me and possibly some others. If it isn't for you, just move on. I'm so tired of people complaining about deals people post. I almost didn't even post this because of people like you. We are not gamers or editors, so this will do fine with web surfing and office tasks.

totally agree with you... this deal is great!! for basic tasks notebook

What is wrong with the processor? I have a gateway with a p6200 dual core and it's not bad in any way shape or form. What are you thinking a netbook is for, Crysis?
