Great price, I'm kinda nuetural on this though. I've been using this combo for the past 2 weeks. (I also us it in conjunction with a Bluetooth Mouse
here's my observation:
- for a one gig memory unit. the OS hogs up alot of memory (other 1gb devices I got usually have 400+ free ram.) the TF700 only have 280 to 315 megs of memory free. (between my other tablet and phone that have 1gb ram I have the same exact apps and setting on it). but on the positive side none of the apps/games I used seems to give me any problem with "running out of memory" including stuff like RIPTIDE GT, DEAD TRIGGER, SHADOW GUN. but still why does something this powerful only have 1gb ram
- I tried polaris office, office pro 6, quick office HD. and none of them really come close to MS office functionality and usability and speed. Office Pro 6 is somewhat faster but u have to turn off realtime spell check first.
in general OFFIce software are slow and there is some lag in the typing (word app). not as efficient/fast and featured as regular desktop. I'm very surprised at this considering it's a quad core cpu and I remember back in the days of WinCE the office apps runs FAST and that was on 200mhz CPU and 16megs of ram from 1999 (I know it's very feature limited but at least it have basic functionality and it runs fast and have familiar layout)
- You would think having powerful hardware (in relation to anndroid) high res, mouse, keyboard browsing on the unit will be as good of a browsing experience as a desktop... NOPE. lots of webpages are slower to load. I tried the default browser and Chrome. it's a double edge sword here. it loads the default desktop version of the website so it is slower on the unit but have more content. or u can pick the mobile version and it's fast but it's a waste on such a high res screen. waste of screen estate
Thats my biggest complaint and main need/use for the dock but it seems more like a software optimization issue than anything else. all the regular native android apps runs fine no complaints. default email app is a joy to use on the keyboard as well as instant messenging apps (or any app that requires have extensive typing)
- there are rumors of the keyboar ddock cracking the screen (google it)
In short while the idea of a keyboard dock combining to make this a laptop replacement it really is not as great as it is envisioned. so just reconsider and at least bestbuy have a instore return policy.
at $500+ tax you can get actual ultra portable that does full apps and work
that might be a better option of you use thetablet+keyboard constantly. and want to do actual work on it.

My days as a sales person @ bestbuy
Customer: This stupid phone I bought last week won't work right
Me: So it's the phone thats stupid and not you right?
Customer: I'm looking for an easy way to access my media files with my laptop when I'm in the yard.
Me: Sports Authority is having a sale on walking shoes.
the keyboard simply will make it easier to type longer documents/emails. and the dock also has usb ports and sd card reader i think, as well as extended battery that can charge your tablet. as far as the keyboard's use with usual android tablet based apps, well that im not so sure. im stuck between getting this one and the asus s200e, which is a touchscreen windows 8 based laptop...
Out of the box, it does have some lag issues. I used it stock for two weeks to make sure there were no defects. I then rooted it and unlocked it and installed a custom ROM named Clean ROM Inheritance which looks like stock but has several performance improvements. Many won't like going that route and unlocking it does void your warranty. With CROMI, this is the best current android tablet.
can you explain on that?
I donotice with the dock on web surfing and office app is not as fast as I like. but other apps I don't really see/notice any slow "slow down to a tortoise"
I''m actully writing this on chrome on the combo now.
I used to own the Asus. Whenever I update my apps in the background, the web browsing slows down to a crawl. For more info, just browse thru the transformer forum. Lots of discussion there. And I was on stock Android. I don't like to root unless I have to. Case in point, my nook color. My pantech element doesn't have the problem I described in the transformer.
