Tax kills it... but hopefully we'll see this price from some online vendors soon!

Next stop, $1500! I don't believe the 6D is vastly superior to the 5D II, in fact, in several ways the 5D II is the better choice.

Even at $1699, I think we'll keep seeing the price drop. The 6D is crippled in several ways that makes it less than ideal. If you already own high-end lenses you'll probably seriously consider spending a bit more on the 5D3. If you don't already have high-end lenses, than you might be better off with a 60D and spending $1000 on glass.

This camera has hardly been out for a few months, and we're already seeing $400 price drops, makes you wonder what Canon was thinking when they set the MSRP.

I'll still give a thumbs up to the deal though, good price, just not a great camera.

Canon followers - what's the chance these are the new prices that are going to be coming out on Feb 2, when the "instant rebate" expires?

Agreed. It'd be a great camera for my wife since my 5D is apparently too large and bulky.

the 60D was a flop too . . .

Do you guys actually have a 6D alert just to blow smoke or are you like, in a club or something?

6D is $300 better than 5D mark II for sure
