I recently just bought a suit, as I needed something for my grandfather's funeral..
I've never been much of one to wear "dressier" stuff, and I'm a fan of jeans and raglan tees and v necks most everyday, when I'm not wearing my work uniform.
But I actually enjoyed the tailored suit, and wouldn't mind wearing it more, out on dates and such.
I've always been a sucker for those nice suit vest that can be worn formally or informally, but I have no idea where to find a good deal on one, and which might be good for wearing out everyday AND with my grey pinstripe suit (65% poly, 25% visco, 10% wool)
I saw you posted the same question on CAG and stumbled across this looking at some style stuff. I skimmed the responses and largely agree with them.
1) If you're wearing it as a three piece or the vest and suit pants, it MUST be the same fabric. Don't bother with anything else, because it will not look right.
2) Men's Wearhouse is not the best value place to buy stuff, but I get that it may be one of the only options you have depending on where you live. I bought there when I was younger, but no more. For the quality, it should be a bit cheaper.
3) You can still do the vest thing, but do it with a pair of dark jeans -- the idea here versus suit pants is that you can mix and match fabrics when they are completely different... it's bad when they are close but "slightly off" With jeans, it'll be a contemporary well-dressed casual look.
4) If you want to do #3, go to somewhere like H&M where you can find a vest for $30-50. It won't be the highest quality and will probably fall apart after a year, but that's the point of H&M clothing. It will serve the purpose of providing a clean, fashionable look -- and make sure you try them on and get the right size.
