Picked up this cool hot dog toaster [bestbuy.com] today from Best Buy that I wanted since the Kmart deal from late last year. Get this though, the coupon (in this thread) did NOT work on this item! Supposedly, the story is that BB considers this hot dog toaster thingy as a "novelty item" and it isn't classified (in the system) as a "small kitchen appliance"! (The CSR warned me it might not work, then he tried and low-n-behold, the system balked.)
Yet, in-store, they stack 'em right next to the toasters, blenders, etc. Just aggravating, right? I mean it says the word "toaster" right on the box and everything!Well, I came prepared for just "stupidness". I brought with me a double-sided printout with the same product from Walmart ($19.00) on one side, and BBB (Bed, Bath & Beyond, $19.99) on the other (no need to waste (extra) paper...), as well as the mailer from BBB offering 20% off on a single item. So, while BB would not take 20% off using their own dumb coupon, they accepted a pricematch to Walmart for $19.00 and took off 20% from there, accepting my BBB mailer as a competitor's coupon. Of course, had the $$$ amounts been higher, I would have been told that "these can not stack" blah, blah, blah. Thank God the store was relatively empty and that there was no line at customer service. Now, this hot dog toaster is listed on BB's website under: Best Buy › Appliances › Small Appliances › Specialty Appliances › Hot Dog Grillers & Carts ...so should anyone else report similar troubles with other items somewhere under Best Buy › Appliances › Small Appliances ...let me know and I'll add YMMV to the title of this post. P.S. - Oh yeah, tried to use the "$50 off $100" (again) on a printer plus this and got shot-down (again). ![]()

I just used the Master Card spend $100 get $50 off at my local Best Buy BUT had to get a manager to approve it.(spent $110 on smalls that were not on exclusion list) Initially told NO But I showed them in black and white that offer was still valid. I am Premier Silver Reward Zone and have the credit card too.
My point is that if you are denied any coupon that you bring into a store, ask to speak to a manager to see if they will okay it. If you are calm and polite you may have success like I did!! |
