arg... this is killing me... not sure if I should pick up a dual bay enclosure with 2-2TB drives or this one for significantly less...

two drives means twice the chance of mechanical failure this one drive is better
is a great deal 4tb in one drive 7200 and better seagate software costco gives extended warranty as do most credit cards costco wont push this but really if you are ever not happy with your purchase they will make it right no matter the time period they told me |

can anyone here confirm which drive is inside?
I just got one and I'm testing it out now. Seems to run fairly cool inside its case. I'm reading 43° C after my first transfer. 183GB averaging 122MB/s with all 100MB+ files. |

Hoping to get a confirmation from those of you that bought this specific drive at Costco that the drive can be taken out of the enclosure and used internally. Is the warranty voided also by doing this? Hoping to buy 3 of these to add to my media server.

+$50 for a Costco membership kills the deal. But if you already have a membership or know somebody who does this is a great deal.

Go to Seagate's web site and enter the serial number on the drive. If the warranty on the drive is longer then the warranty on the external you are good to go. If not just hang onto the case and pop it back in for warranty service. |
