section 2 is what u need to follow
Using a MOCA router (Actiontec MI424-WR, Westell 9100EM) as a MOCA LAN bridge.
I ended up getting moca bridge kit from amazon and it works great
Hi, can you point to any guide that detail the instruction on how to convert Verizon FiOS routers to MoCA adapters?
One note. Most of the guides on the subject matter will tell you to only bridge MoCA to Ethernet, but there is no reason not to bind Wi-Fi to it too. You can set it up with a differen SSID if you wanted to, but if you set it up with the same SSID and passkey as your "main" router, and just set the radio to a non-overlaping channel (1, 6, 11), it will act as a wi-fi extender. Most devices will seamlessly hop from one wi-fi to another, as you move around the house.
If you are going to have more than 2 of the bridges, in addition to the router, you will have to play with channels to minimize interfierence.
Edit: The note above is about radio channels is on the wi-fi side. If you have other MoCA equipment, such as Cable Company multiroom DVR, or whatever else, you may need to change MoCA channels.
If you have FiOS, default set up is to connect the router to the ONT via Coax, which is set to WAN in the router, instead of LAN. You may need to switch your router to Ethernet, and have Verizon switch ONT to Eithernet. I am not 100% certain, since I have not tested it that way. I had my ONT switched to Ethernet when I decided to use my router instead of Verizon provided one.
Edit 2: I am not sure if it is neccessary, maybe with some smarter routers it is not. But, I blocked the IP range that I used for the static IP devices from the DHCP pool. The simplest is to set the main router to start giving out IP address from 192.168.1.10 and up, and use IP addressed from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.9 for whatever you need to have static IP address (MoCA adapters, print servers, internet servers, FTP servers, ect).
