VA loans and Grants

My father in law is currently living with us and we want to buy a different house. He is also on disability. He wants to use his VA status to help get the new house financed. He also believes that he can get a grant to help get off disability. Web page after web page has some info but alot lead to non govt. websites. Anyone have any insight as to how involved or chance of this working out? His credit score is not that great and he was going to try and put my wife on to help with getting financed.

Well after more reading it seems that only a spouse can go on a VA loan. It would be his daughter so that wont work. The only income he has is his disability. We were trying to find a way to buy a different house to have more room so he could do his wood working.
