Here is the link: aafes.com [aafes.com]

I noticed this while I was browsing today "Between 25-31 January only, purchase any Apple iPad and receive a $25 Exchange Gift Card."

So $10 less than retail, plus a $25 GC. Seemed like a good deal to me.

Obviously the deal is only for Aafes members, but I just wanted to put it out there. As always, no sales tax and free shipping. And in my opinion I get a little bit more peace of mind ordering from Aafes than from eBay where it was $319 last week. And it applies to other iPads as well, I just happened to be in the market for a mini. Happy shopping!

I have been meaning to call to see if they will accept the Best Buy coupon from earlier in the week. Did that expire?

Have your friend order and then just pay them back using your cc & Amazon Payments. Everyone gets rewards.

Hrmph, just bought a Note 10.1 but have been eyeing a Verizon iPad mini. Might have to pull the trigger.

so hard to get this because of the iphone 4 processor in it and the non-retina screen. I hate how apple does that with gen1 products knowing that suckers will buy it (so they can get rid of excess inventory) and then already have in-testing gen2 ipad mini with a6 processor and a retina screen (supposed to be out this summer).

But won't it cost more money? I was looking at them in store, and read an article on it. Since the screen size is much smaller they resolution is very similar to retina, also it doesn't need the absolute best processor because of the smaller format. The ipad mini is actually the fastest ipad there is.

I was thinking about waiting for the 2 but I don't think itI'll be that much better.

it will be the same price... apple would be nuts to make a mini the same price as their retina ipads

Should have paid attention to the dates. I went out to buy one only to find out it isn't til friday. I'll be there first thing in the AM to buy my ipad mini.
I don't think a "2" is worth waiting for. I'm perfectly happy with the display, and it is the fastest ipad there is currently. Even if they put in a better processor, it won't make that big of a difference.

If anyone here has an iPad Mini, I wanted to get your advice. I was given the Mini as a gift. I was thinking about returning it and paying in the diffs for an iPad 4 because I primarily use the device for movies/TV shows and web surfing (retina FTW). BUT, when I went to the store, holding the Mini is a dream vs the iPad 4, which feels like a brick. So my question - will I really miss the retina for movies/TV shows and web surfing if I keep the Mini. Clearly retina its better, but in the real world, if the two devices are not side by side, does one notice the diffs and more importantly, do you regret buying the Mini because it has an inferior display? The Mini's weight seems like a massive plus for me as I also FaceTime a lot, but I dont want to regret opening it up if I'm disappointed with the video quality. There were no true 1080p videos on the store models that I could use for comparison.

Thanks!

We are a household of 3 iPads, 1 Ipad 2, 1 ipad 4 (I guess with retina) and a mini. I personally can't tell the difference and actually sometimes I feel like using my husbands ipad hurts my eyes. Anyhow, it's going to be up to your preference, if you like the size, I say mini, but if you are into movies and stuff, then obviously the viewing on the bigger pad is way better. The mini is used for my son so it's portable. I read the news before bed and thought I'd like the mini but I think I a so used to those extra 2 inches (that's what she said! ....sorry had to do it!), that I just used my ipad not the mini like I thought. But it will come down to preference.

FYI for those thinking about asking a friend. We bought an ipad mini on the aafes site for my brother (he just turned 18 with no credit card) and it shipped.

Thanks for posting this deal. After I return my current iPad mini to Best Buy, I will have saved around $50 after taxes, discount and gift card. Thanks again!

Thanks for the post... Typing on my new iPad mini, I love this thing!!! We bought the original iPad and took it back... I just didn't like it at all. The iPad mini truly is a portable system and I'm in love. I've drained the battery every single day I've had it.

When can we expect to receive the gift card? Does Aafes mail it out?

Yea, they mail it out after the fact. Anytime I've participated in something like this it has taken 3-4 weeks for me to see the gift card.
