This is exactly what my girl and I did. We were able to get the DC28 for less than $270 including tax. We had to talk to two managers to get them to accept our small table fan, but in the end we saved over $50 from the trade in!

If you're gonna spend this much on a vacuum why not get a roomba?

We just replaced our circa 2003 DC07 (still working fine, will be passed on to my mother) with this DC28 Animal last week. It was a toss-up between the 28 and the 33 but the wife preferred the pushbutton controls and color scheme of the 28 and the extra attachments. I can safely say this is a fantastic deal. I really like the improvements they have made to the extension wand and blockage clearing on this latest generation of Dysons.

i had roomba and i didn't like it... may work fine in some apartments but it always got stuck somewhere in mine.

Because roomba sucks, it just kicks crap around my house and gets stuck everywhere. It's good for a quick clean, but now way in hell is it gonna replace a normal vacuum.

Also FYI, BB sells dynex table fans for like $5.99, so if your store is being a PITA about buying the fan at BB, then just grab one of those.

To me Roomba / Neato is not a replacement for a manual vacuum.

Every try using a roomba with shedding dogs? Does not work that great. We even tried in a couple rooms where the dogs never entered. It did not really did a great job picking up.

Now on to dyson.


My first dyson vacuum lasted 8 years before we broke it. It never lost suction etc.

We decided to buy a hoover vacuum for a 100 dollars that is supposely comparable.

I figured If our Hoover lasted two years and we had to replace it every two years it would equal the value of the Dyson.

Besides not having the reach the Dyson did so far we are on our 2nd Hoover in 2 years. Even though this vacuum is cyclonic just like the Dyson, the quality of parts and the clogging issues we have had with it's design was not worth the hassle.

As soon I find the deal on the smaller ball Dyson, thats the plan for us.

just scored one at 8449 Leesburg Pike Vienna, VA 22182 store. It was very easy, just bring in any vacuum ( my was 40$ dirty devil), the manager signed me up right away for the 20% off coupon. only 3 left at the store now.

Well I got one, but BB is really good at taking something that should be easy and making it hard. Go to my closest store. Nobody in the department. Finally go to the service desk. It took close to 1/2 hour for them to key everything in to give me the coupon. Go back to the department. They've got one in a beat up open box. The coupon says must be used at time of trade in, but I took a chance and went to another store that showed several in stock. Stand there forever as they are all in overstock. There is one employee explaining the history of the Nintendo to an old lady. Figured screw it. Grabbed a ladder and got one myself. Thankfully no issues at checkout. It took the discount right off. The cashier even handed me back the coupon. Why couldn't BestBuy give you an online form to fill out all that crap they need to record to give you the coupon for the trade-in? Why can't their online inventory checker tell you when the item is low stock like Target does? Just crazy how inefficiently they do things. I'm happy I got the deal, but I'm still left thinking BB is a pain in the a**.
