If you need it now then yes. But the 2280DW which has the same capabilities was around 80-90$ in the past.

Nope, I got for 85 after applying a 25 of 75 coupon and taxes. This printer has more features than the 2280dw.

If you're getting this for someone else, remember this doesn't come with usb cable.

Manual Duplex. It is hard to find duplex scanning in such low price range printer, as a matter of fact, I have never seen duplex scanning feature on AIO geared for home users. You might have to look for commercial AIOs from Xerox etc for Duplex Scanning.

I purchased this last year from Staples through a price match from Office Depot. The retail price is accurate. The printer is phenomenal and the ink can be purchased through third party vendors for next to nothing. The duplex feature in itself is cost effective and saves paper. You can customize your printing options through multiple profiles. I have never had a problem with the unit. Also, it can be used in a wired or wireless setting.

I paid $149 out the door for a laser duplex machine with a copier, fax, and scanner that could be networked. As the OP noted, it is next to impossible to find a feature rich unit of this caliber that won't gauge you in the pocket ink wise.

Most people opt for Meritline for their ink purchases, but the reviews were mixed and the complaints led me to go through a reputable vendor on Amazon instead. I've made two purchases with Linkyo [amazon.com] and I haven't had an issue thus far.

As for the noise, it doesn't bother me. But I wouldn't say it's extreme either. The build is solid. This is not a lightweight unit nor small. While the size isn't purely compact, it is smaller than the HP units of a similar quality.

I also bought this exact printer (new) about a year or 2 ago for $120-130 (cant remember the exact price) from Staples. Excellent printer.. I buy the 3rd party toner which is about $15-20. Duplex printing is great.

As for the noise, it's about the same noise level as most other laser printers.. not a big deal honestly.

If I had to gripe about something, the manual single sheet feeder never worked that great for me.. other than that, great printer.

Sweet. Been waiting for the 2280DW for few weeks now but going to jump on this instead. Anyone know if I can use Staples gift card by phone?
