have been looking for 7.1 headphones..... was about to pull the trigger on Corsair Vengeance 1500 which is the same price as this but its wired.... I wanted 7.1 wireless corsair vengeance but that was $120....

Just to let you know, this is the older model of the PS3 headset. The newer model is the PULSE headset. I'm not sure if this is the case for the Corsair Vengeance 1500, but both of the sony headsets are simulated surround sound, not true surround on the driver level, meaning that if you choose to use it on a non-PS3 platform, then you will only get stereo (2.0 or 2.1). Even for movies on the PS3, you may not necessarily get surround sound with the PS3 headsets. I think they may have added some firmware to fix this, but don't quote me on it.

The Pulse headsets are a little better than these in that, the dongle also accepts a standard 3mm jack, so you can use it with your mp3 player. This regular model uses a USB dongle that requires use of USB only. It also has something called "Bass Impact" to make it "kick" with thumps, but it does drain the battery life a bit faster.

Still, I got this model on pre-order when it was on Amazon for $65 and it is very nice

Yeah, I saw the PULSE version and its $120 which is out of my price range for headphones.......... aren't all 7.1 headphones simulated 7.1 (lol).............. but then again "true" 7.1 wireless headphones cost like $300

I assume that the wireless connection for this is NOT bluetooth? What's the range and any interference from house phones/microwaves?

Not a very good deal. These were $60 when they first released on Amazon (which is where all the glowing reviews are from).

Trust me, so much better. I have had both but the afterglows are more versatile, comfortable, and cooler looking. Best bang for your buck imo. I paid $50 for them so of course I am super happy

I haven't heard of the afterglows but after checking them out, I definately see the attraction. As you said, more versatile, comfortable, and way cooler looking. I could stare at them for hours...

i also took advantage of that amazon preorder price on the original model, and had used it extensively right up until last month, both with the ps3 and my mac. i absolutely loved it for what it was, and would've thoroughly recommended a pair for anyone to purchase... until the pulse wireless headset came out. this new model is better in every respect, from the sound quality to the build quality, to the dongle with headphone jack and the built-in mic, even to just how it looks and fits on your head. and i can't stress how good the audio quality is for their respective connections (both wired and wireless).

i snagged this deal back at the end of november, when officemax had it for 100 after applying the $20 off coupon to the $120 sale price. taking into account that i was able to trade my original headset into amazon for a "like new" value of $45, i essentially only paid about $60 after tax for the pulse wireless headset. however, having experienced them firsthand for over a month now, i can honestly say that i would've gladly paid double that for these amazing pair of cans (yes, we are still talking about headphones!). just my 2 cents
