Coleman® 9-Person Instant Tent $99.oo Target BM-YMMV

Good deal, bought a similar Coleman instant up tent a year ago, I think it was a 7 person and I paid a little over $100 for it. Good tent for family camping

True. I've camped all my life and I think the ground cover (if you use it at all) should always be smaller then the tent.

We just fold the edges of tarp so that it's smaller than the footprint of the tent base by a couple inches. Water shouldn't pool up because it never has a chance to get between the tent and the tarp, unless it's flooding in which case, you're going to get wet regardless of tarp or not.

Agreed. You don't want to hold water under the tent.

The better move is to set up a tent under some trees and hang a tarp above the tent between 2-3 trees so that the water does not come down on the tent. It's like a giant umbrella.

Trust, me the water was not from your tarp. I always use a tarp under my tent and have camped in several rain storms, some nasty! I never got rain on the tarp. And my tent still looks brand new. - the tent is over it - dosen't make sense. Unless your tarp was too big or something?

This tent looks like an average price to me - not too hot especially for January. This is a nice tent though fore sure - colemans are the way to go, and these are super easy to pop up.

Does anyone have a reciept? I found one locally but they want $140 unless I can find it somewhere online for less... TIA

Used one of these a few months back, I have to say that my one fear was pitching the tent would be easy, but taking it down and packing it up would be a hassle -- not the case at all. take down very easy.

And because of the way the tent folders up, you never have an issue putting it back in the carry bag.

Gone are the days of jumping on the tent to force it all in!

No rainfly for these quick setup tents remember.

Just want to add that Coleman had excellent customer service when I needed them.

We got the 6 person version of this tent from Amazon a year or so ago and it sometimes leaked a tiny bit in bad storms. One phone call to Coleman and they sent me a new one very quickly. The best part is they let me keep the old one. All I had to do was write their RMA on the old one's label area and email a photo.

The leaking in these tents is an endemic problem as no seam is ever perfect, and these tents work without a rainfly. They now sell a rainfly for mine that makes it perfect. Also there is a newer version of mine sold at Walmart that has the vents on the bottom, instead of the top. Those vents are one area where water pooled sometimes. But for an occasional car camper these things can't be beat for the price.

Odd how Coleman has this tent listed as a 9 person at 9'x14' where the tent from the Meijer deal just over a year ago was an 8 person at 10'x14'. That deal was $129, but came with 3 air mattresses and a hand pump.
Have used the tent a few times last year and am pleased all around with the setup/teardown time as well as the roominess. And yes to setting it down on a tarp.
