Deal Details

This is the fifth generation and newest model for the Klipsch Quintet Home Theater System. It includes 4 satellite speakers and the center speaker. It does NOT include a subwoofer or a receiver. I found this on Crutchfield.com for $299.99 and had it price matched at Best Buy. The original price on this system is $549.99. Provided below are the links for the system thru Klipsch.com Crutchfield.com and Bestbuy.com. Crutchfield also provides FREE SHIPPING if you do not have a Best Buy near you.

Best Buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Klips...Id=5888124

Since a receiver and subwoofer are not provided, here are some links to complete the system. Both of these items can also be price matched at Best Buy. I understand these were previously posted but I just put the links on here for convenience.

Any reason to pay $20 more for the MK2 sub over the old version on Newegg?

I can't say I know much about the difference between the SW-8 vs the SW-8MK2 subwoofer. However, from testing out different subwoofers, I found that the pioneer subwoofer provided the smoothest bass and sounded very clean, especially for the price. That said, the reason I purchased the newer model was primarily because I wanted to get the entire system from a store like Best Buy incase I needed to exchange it for a different model or return it.

...there clearancing these things for much lower than that. (as posted here: http://slickdeals.net/f/5821930-Klipsch-Quintet-5-channel-Speaker-System-YMMV-Best-Buy-247-tax?v=1).

Grabbed a set for $164...

..and trust the reviews on the lows - there are none. DTrying to decide what I'm going to do with mine. (Return or keep...)

My local Best Buy had their open box receivers 50% off the lowest price when I was in the store a few days ago.

I saw that deal. However, when I checked the UPC it was for the older 4th generation Klipsch model, not the 5th generation model. If you got the 5th generation, that deal is totally slick! Congrats!

Anything older from Klipsch is better as AudioVox recently bought them and all the new stuff is Audiovox =S

Are you referring to the UPC on the Crutchfield site?, if so, can you point us to how you discerned these were the older make unit? Thank you.

How do these compare to Energy Take Classics?

I think adhesiveduck was referring to the bestbuy deal which is the older Quintet IV model.

The crutchfield's deal is the latest Quintent V model, which was just released last August. It is a good deal for $300. You'll definitely need a sub with these though.

What's the difference between the two generations? Did a quick search and appears to be some new horn tech in the 5th, but wondering from a sound perspective if reviews have them that far apart.

(That being said, I've ordered the Pioneer's off Amazon and may be returning these...they really lack mid to lows. The highs are stunning, but theres just this...emptiness below that. Not an audiophile by any means, so not sure of the correct terminology...but I found it noticeable - even w/a decent sub cranked up volume wise and w/all speakers being sent the lower frequencies and a 200hz crossover set for the sub.

Also - I was in Best Buy today and figured the two different UPC's for the Quintets were because one label was for clearance and one wasn't (internal BB thing) - guess not. This means the clearance were definitely Gen 4's and the newer ones were listed for $599 or so on the tag. (Not that they had any of either on the shelf...)
