Deal Details

This is the fifth generation and newest model for the Klipsch Quintet Home Theater System. It includes 4 satellite speakers and the center speaker. It does NOT include a subwoofer or a receiver. I found this on Crutchfield.com for $299.99 and had it price matched at Best Buy. The original price on this system is $549.99. Provided below are the links for the system thru Klipsch.com Crutchfield.com and Bestbuy.com. Crutchfield also provides FREE SHIPPING if you do not have a Best Buy near you.

Since a receiver and subwoofer are not provided, here are some links to complete the system. Both of these items can also be price matched at Best Buy. I understand these were previously posted but I just put the links on here for convenience.

I looked at both versions at best buy. From appearance sake:

Gen IV includes build-in stands (flip for wall mounting) and the wire hook up (bananna type) is in the middle of the back of the speaker. They also are Glossy black piano type and the cover wraps over the edges.

Gen V does not include built in stands. The wire hook-ups are at the bottom, push button spring type Seem very robust. They are slightly larger than the gen IV. They are a mat-finish (doesn't show dust are easily) . The cover ends at the face and does not wrap around the edges of the speaker.

The main speaker looks the same, the horn speaker is sightly difference. Gen V is supposed to distribute the sound in a room more evenly, while Gen IV is directional.

I personally think the Gen 5 look better. They were having crazy deals for the older version, but I preferred the nonglossy finish. I found a deal on Amazon where I able to bundle a Harman Kardon AVR1700, Klipsh Gen5, and BIC subwoofer for $720. I purchase that deal just waiting for delivery. I also purchased speaker mounts, wire, and other needed items from monoprice.com.

I am trying to figure out if this would pair nicely with my Pioneeer 822-K that I picked up but haven't purchased any speakers for yet. it outputs 140W/channel. 5.1
The satellites are capable of handling 200W each and the center is 300W so in terms of pairing with the receiver, you wouldn't have a problem. That said, choosing speakers are always just a personal choice, but for the price I think these are great.

My local best buy has the Gen 4 for 246.99 and the Gen 5 for 274.99. To further complicate things, they also have the Polk Audio 5 Channel for 179.99.

As far as price goes, the HD 600 with the free Yamaha is cheaper, but the speakers that come with the Quintet V are much better than those in the HD 600. You will just have to purchase the additional subwoofer. The subwoofer I listed in the original post is, IMO, an awesome subwoofer for the price and sounds great.

I believe my bestbuy still has the 4th generation I'm guessing for $165.99. Does anyone know for sure.

Thanks. I will go with this suggestion.

I currently have Athena Micra6 speakers and was wondering if anyone knew how these (or the Series IV compares)

I ordered the Series IV at a local store because they have it for $164.99. Are the Series V worth the extra $110? Anyone have a Sub to suggest? I hear the SW-350 is a good match, but I can't find it on sale right now.
