I couldn't agree more. But it seems Target no longer wants its customers to use a freebie obtained GC to pay for subsequent transactions that offer freebie GCs (like these baby product promotions). When you try to pay with a previously earned freebie GC, the system will ask "How much do you want for this GC?" It acts like you're trying to purchase the GC, not using it to pay for the transaction!
You'll get as many freebie $10 GC as you're entitled to, once you've bought the qualified baby items. But you can't use these freebie GCs to pay for any transaction that offers freebie GCs. That's what happened to me yesterday (I verified the GCs still had value on them by asking the cashier to verify their values)
Today, I used a freebie gift card in a transaction where I got a freebie gift card.
