Looking for VW Beetle for under $5000? Where to look + other used car questions?

I decided I wanted to get a VW Beetle. I like that it's real small and good on gas. I previously had a Jeep that was totaled and I was looking to get another Jeep but started to think of the upside to having a Beetle instead.

I really want it in black, silver, or blue. Red would be alright but probably not preferred.

I searched around and to my surprise it was not so easy to find a nice Beetle in this price range. It almost looks like I'd have better luck finding a Jeep in better condition, which seems odd to me.

Anyway, I did come across a few listings that appealed to me.

One listing is at a reputable used car shop nearby. They offer a limited warranty on select used cars but not on all used cars. Unfortunately, the vW Beetle is not warrantied and is sold AS IS.

1. This scares me because why wouldn't they insure this one? Anyone know if that is a bad sign or any other reasoning behind it?

2. I've checked Cars.com, cargurus.com, autotrader.com, craigslist, and a list of others. Are there any other sites you'd recommend me looking?
