Looks fake to me. Amazon has the Gerber logo and Bears sig on it, Meritline does not.
And where is the rivet at the back end of the handle? Total crap there guys..

Agreed, looks like a fake knock off. If you need a cheap knife, this is probably still not a bad deal though, just not what you are expecting.

Good point - it is only $6 so no big loss there.. I just noticed that the blade is different too

i would agree, this is totally a knock-off.
my buddy has the real deal and it's pretty sharp out of the box.
if you trash your knives, this is might not be a bad deal.

From the reviews someone says it is genuine. I ordered one and am trying to cancel it, these people are impossible to reach.

Yeah reviews indicate genuine. At this price even if it is just a decent fake i'm in. I'll just keep it in my drawer for box opening duty.

I'm willing to take a gamble, see if it's genuine.

Edited: Mine arrived last week. The color scheme is different, but I did find an older model with the orange/gray scheme they sent. That may also explain the lack of a nail-pull groove. Etched "Bear" script on the blade is close, but under magnification not identical. Different pivot fastener. The box UPC searches up empty, while the amazon knife UPC matches with the Gerber Bear Grylls.

The model (copy) they sent is pictured at attachment (stock photo), which is supposed to be model 31-000754. The box it came in was printed model 31-000386, which does not come up on any search.

It appears to be a counterfeit Gerber, sorry to say, but I'm not 100% positive and don't like to post misinformation on SD.
