Sure they do. It really depends on the game engine. I can get 250-280fps in some gpu less intense games, but of course thats unneeded and i just lock it to my refresh rate.

No I have 120hz monitors. From the reviews I have read 144fps @ 144hz is just slightly smoother than 120fps @ 120hz. The Lightboost tech makes the largest leap in the smoothness quality.

I don't think that matters (plus you can make custom profiles). The limit should be the weakest link in your system. Assuming you have a current high end computer (and the game you are trying it on isn't too demanding) I would guess the weakest link would be the DVI connector which is limited to 165Hz.

Yeah, I think I saw somewhere that you'd have to use HDMI to get 4096x2160 @ 60hz. Hmmmm...

The limitation is the video card. I doubt Nvidia even goes that high (I know AMD doesn't).

Keep in mind that this is a TN panel, so color, viewing angles, and image quality are going to suck compared to IPS. On the other hand, it has lightboost, 3D vision 2, and 144hz refresh.

That limitation is due to the difficulty of driving a 2560x1440 display. Modern cards can drive 120 or 144hz, it's just a question of whether you'll see those framerates during a given task.

You most certainly can game at those refresh rates in 1920x1080.

The question is: is there any reason to wait for the BenQ XL2411t?

It was the original batch (I'm kinda pissed i went for a Achieva Shimian IPSB instead... but I was probably the first person to get it, at least on Overclock). And they stopped making the PCB that could drive 60+Hz, although most people only got around 90Hz, which is still smoother.

Actually the issue isn't with GPUs as you can get enough of them to drive 120Hz at 1440p, the issue is the DVI-DL standard itself, on paper, it doesn't have enough bandwidth to push that much data. That's why some people had to buy better gold plated cables before theirs worked. I mean the panels are "capable" the only difference between my monitor and a OCable catleap is the PCB (which some company was talking about making, i forget which)

Ah, that's true. I hadn't considered the actual throughput of dvi-dl... was thinking of res and refresh separately and that you were addressing 1080 @ 120hz. Kneejerk reaction, must still be in Work Mode.

No reason to get the $380 Benq over this right?
