I too was charged $29.99 shipping. Did on-line chat and got the charge removed. They said it would take 5 - 7 days to show up on credit card. Did not have to provide any evidence.....seems they are aware of the issue.
I do like the chair. Much higher quality than I anticipated. Note - the normal price is $180, so it better be good - ) |

i ordered it when it was "charging" $0 with free shipping during the time it was backordered. i placed the order using a prepaid visa with a dollar and fewcents on it so i wouldnt have to worry about getting charged more later. i didnt think it would go through. it did. received a call on voicemail stating that my payment did not successfully go through and to contact my bank. wasnt worth the hassle of even cancelling so i just let it be. not sure how or why, but i received a ship notice earlier this week and just got the chair in yesterday. slick deal. If the situation was reversed, you shipped a product to someone but the payment bounced, what would you say/do? The 0 on your order didn't necessarily mean that was the end price, but that you just hadn't been charged yet due to the product being backordered. Maybe you got it for free, maybe Office Depot still wants to get paid? Not my business really, just sayin doesn't sound kosher to me.

Well the chair got here 2 days, still no charge. If they do end up charging me, I'll just dispute it and ask to return it because a week ago I talked to a customer service rep to CANCEL the order, and they cancelled it for me. I think the mistake they made was still sending the chair on a cancelled order, not charging me 0 for it. |

slightly different situation on my end i guess, because i never confirmed whether or not i wanted to cancel.
but if they were aware of the payment issue and still shipped it anyway, thats on them i would think. they are free to pull out any money left on the prepaid card i gave them though (~$1.50). already farted in the chair though so if they want it back its cool. |

the price showed up as $0 with free shipping. there was no indication of any price at all. but yeah, we'll see how this plays out. and its on the retailer to make sure the funds are clear before shipping an order out. i laid another juicy fart on the chair so if they want it, itll be soaked in my sweet gas juices. |

At any rate it's apparently Office Depot policy to only put a $1 hold on backordered items and show $0 not charging till the item ships. It's pretty likely that this was described as you checked out but not having been through it I can't be sure. Of course that all may be academic as the real result depends on how the responsible OD employee chooses to handle it. Don't think I've farted on my chair. I mean it is MY chair but it's, like, new you know, doesn't seem right,

I got an Amazon office chair add today and this chair [amazon.com] sure looks like the same chair to me just with more/different color options. Just thought I'd add it to this thread in case anyone else might be interested in reading more reviews/comments as Office Depot doesn't have all that many reviews of this chair. There was a new one this morning by someone who either got a lemon or had assembly challenges which compromised the result. While there is no way to know, the reviewer indicated it had been a "frustrating assembly". When I assembled this chair it occurred to me that some folks might have issues. I myself had a bit of a hard time holding the pieces in place when attaching the back to the seat and remember at one point being afraid I might damage the back web. Anyway, just FYI.

I finally put mine together today after having it two weeks while we moved from house to house and guess what? The FU&(^*&^(*&&* Gas Lift is not in the freaking Box grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That sucks. I'm not sure what the best way to get one is. The assembly directions have the SKU and phone number that should work though. I'm saving that, and my receipt, in case I need warranty parts somewhere down the line. It's a 5 year warranty so don't want to get stuck without the necessary info a year or two from now. Maybe someone else didn't have the info and took the gas cylinder from one and returned it,
 Hard to say. But yeah that sucks.

Called the number on the instructions and they told me it would ship in 7 to 10 days  so I was like hell no I am taking it back to store but guess what manager did ?? they took the gas lift out from another box , from another brand new chair  now the next guy who buys that chair same thing will happen to them

 Well at least the number worked, if not in a speedy fashion,  I was just reading the latest reviews added of this chair. So many crazy negative reviews. I suspect many of these folks aren't getting it assembled right, like the recent one complaining of the chair falling apart and the wheels falling off! Really? My wheels are in there so tight you're have to pull really hard to get them out so I have to wonder if the reviewer really has them inserted properly and perhaps the other screws not tight. What continues to puzzle me are the substantial % of folks complaining about the seat cushion collapsing and/or being too hard. I just don't get that. Maybe some folks have really sensitive rear ends and/or they're over the weight limit of the chair. Hard to say since more don't talk about their weight. I'm not light but it's been fine for me so far. I guess giving them the benefit of the doubt maybe quality control is spotty and some folks are getting lemons. Or we have more complainers these days, hah. Guess I should just be happy mine is working out for me. At any rate, glad you got the missing part, hope the chair works out for you as it has for me.
