I too share the same experience. Overall N4 was good, I like the pure Android. The bad thing about it has been talked a lot in all reviews. Once you experience 4G LTE, it is really hard to go back to HSPA. It is also slow with Wifi, even after update to 4.2.2, but I think this is software issue. Another issue is once I got the N4 connected to my Wifi network, it kicks all my Window PCs out. Not a big deal because when I changed the channel on my router, it worked ok again. In fact, I didn't switch, just tested a N4 for a couple days before sending to my brother who's on a network which doesn't even have HSPA yet .

I have seen E, 3G, H and H+ in same location within a day. Makes me wonder what t-mobile towers are doing??? So, sometimes I speed really fast, and then slow like a turtle the next few minutes. Most of the time is H, which is good enough for me.

can not compare LTE with HSPA ...

HSPA is more than enough for some people (including me) since do not need LTE speed.. overage Downstream is 17Mb and upstream 3Mb in my house and office.

aha...nothing wrong with your phone. your router is doing something, I have one router that wreak-up when connected to 3-M thermostat Wifi. the router kicks every connection.


overall my Wifi connection are good enough without issue on sharing connections with others devices.

It is very rare for people to get those speeds on t-mobile. Regardless 3 up is slooooow compared to LTE. I consistently get 15+ upload speeds. This phone is great for the price, but not nearly as good as some of the premium lte phones.

What unlock no contract Android phone that work with LTE and T-mobile HSPA+ with comparable price? Or even slightly higher price?

There is a new one for 399. Used for around 330. Better than the Nexus 4 with a better camera and LTE. It doesn't have jelly bean at this point but will be getting it soon.

Just out of curiosity, outside of benchmarking, what size file are you uploading on your phone on a consitant basis to need such a crazy upload speed? I get 30 down on my home comcast connect, and about 5 up, and am a work at home web developer and their is nothing I need uploaded in a manner that 5 vs. 15 would matter, especially not from my phone. If im uploading a 700mb file sure I will save 12 minutes, but 700 mb puts some people at about 40% of there bandwidth if you are on ATT.

When you want to be first on Youtube showing your Harlem Shake moves, you need the fastest connection.

Even download speeds I can see the need, but I have no problem streaming anything on my phone or day to day internet use. If most cell companies data limits were not capped, unless you are grandfathered in, there is not an extreme benefit of something loading in 1 second vs. 3 for most web pages. Especially now when people are making mobile friendly sites that are responsive to your device. So unless you are using your phone for torrentz or to tether without a data limit I am not sure I see the huge complaint.

I do see the need to want the best when you are paying top dollar, but the nexus unlocked at $300 is not paying top dollar.

Slightly off-track, but is a bug or glitch that causes low battery life on the Nexus? Coming from an Samsung Galaxy III and getting *significantly* worse battery life, running the same apps and using the phone the same way. Still love the phone and am happy to have switched carriers (and saving >$50 a month!), but the battery life is disappointing.

Wireless charging. Very convenient.
