i bought a few things for which the rebates went smoothly but also had two rebates not go smoothly. i did two headphone deals a few months back on successive days, mailed both rebates at the post office and both were declined.
I emailed them and they had me fax my copies of the material submitted and both rebates were approved very quickly.
It was suspicious that those two rebates were initially denied, but if it was a good enough
deal, I'd probably take my chances again.
I would definitely make a copy of the rebate form with the upc taped to it.

I work for Hitachi GST. Western Digital only bought out the hard drive division of Hitachi. They have to remain competitors for two years before the merger can take place. That is one of the conditions of the merger. So Hitachi drives will be the same for a couple more years.

TigerDirect is the only company from whom I did not receive my mail in rebate. Did the $15 rebate on their WD media player 2 years ago, never received the rebate.

Great deal if you get the rebate, but I think I will pass on this one.

+1. I'm not a shill and I don't like rebates, but I've gotten every one I've ever applied for at Tigerdirect. You have to be smarter than the rebate form though, which will immediately disqualify some. Follow the rules and there should be no problems.

Is there a limit on the rebates per household?

+1. I got more than 20 rebates from TD in past 6 months without any trouble. I got 1 TB drive couple of months ago for $50 AR and its pretty good. Good writing and reading speeds.
