3D Display Not Detected - Sony Blu Ray Player

CasualSax 26 January 29, 2013 at 09:32 PM
I have a Sony Blu Ray Player, model BDP BX57, hooked up to a Samung TV, model UN65ES8000, via HDMI. I am trying to play a 3D Blu Ray (Under the Sea, if it matters).

When I set the TV to 3D mode, I can select either 2D-3D, left-right, or top-bottom. There are some checkerboard options on the list but they are grayed out. Regardless of which I pick, when I play the Blu Ray, it says a 3D display is not detected.

Any thoughts on what to try?

Sure your TV, Blu Ray player, and HDMI cable are all 3D compliant?

As far as I can tell, all things are green for launch.

I have that similar TV in 58". I have a Samsung 3D player and it works perfect. I don't think you need to match the brand, but the Samsung TV has an auto-detect so it knows what is connected. I would look in the 3D Player and see if there is some sort of auto-detect feature and turn it off. It might be trying to sync up with a Sony TV.

Yeah it's definitely not an issue of matching brands, my PS3 and Samny TV play 3D just fine.

We tried to turn off the Samsung auto-detect program in the TV that I forget the name of and I think we got the same message.

So it is your BluRay that is giving the issue? That is really weird...

Our TV does it no problem, completely independent on the input and vice verse. My Xbox, and Uverse all output 3D (side by side) no matter what the TV is doing, and my TV (Sony) will over lap any input no matter what also.

I actually have yet to ever try my BluRay player (Samsung) with a disc...hope it doesn't give me issues! [Sounds like I have the reverse setup as you...Sony TV and Sammy BD]

Problem is probably that you need to enable 3D in the TV's menus.

I would verify that the HDMI cable supports 3D. If the TV and player all support it, it sounds like the link is the cable in between.
