Best power switch hub for external USB Hard drives?
I can't recall the thread, but someone mentioned a USB power hub for external hard drives which don't have a power switch. I used to buy internal hd's and separate enclosures w/fans and power switches and just connect the two. External HD's are selling for such low prices that it doesn't seem feasible to buy an internal with an enclosure anymore. Does anyone know the best quality hubs for this purpose? Unfortunately, few external hd's have on/off power switches so the only way of shutting them down is to eject the USB add-on via windows and/or pull the plug on those that require an A/C adapter. With a hub, I can also enjoy the benefit of additional USB ports. It would also be nice if you could spin these drives down before shutting the power off (maybe they're programmed to do it?). I believe most externals will spin down once they have been idle for some period of time. At least, mine do.
