OP's TV is at a VERY good price. I got a 37" Dynex right after Christmas from Best Buy (open box) for $212 out the door. Haven't seen a deal like that since. |

$300 for an offbrand 42" is normal if you search, same with a $200 32" off brand for $200. This is the middle ground which should be $250 ballpark, the downside is its not 1080p. There have been many offbrand 1080p 42" deals in the past. Proscan is an okay brand. I got 2x 22" led 1080p tvs from them jee, probably been 2 years ago now. I was impressed by the quality of one, the other however worked for about 3 days and got returned (believe it was an amazon.com deal). This is a fair price, it just doesn't jump out like crazy. Remember this is much shorter than a 42" if you are going to deal compare and its hard to find a 720p 42" tv unless its plasma. But also note, this may fit into many of those older entertainment centers you see for low prices on craigslist (because people once crafted them around 36" tube televisions).

If you have not heard of Proscan then you likely were not looking at high-end tube televisions in the 1990s. This was the high end for, I think, RCA (if not then Panasonic). In any event, They were good, but I suspect the name was sold to some low-end Chinese manufacturer who has prostituted the name to sell poor quality TVs. See Magnavox. Just a thought and I do not have a citation to back it up. In any event, it is a decent price, even for low end 37" tv.
The Green and Gold will rise again!!!
