Anyone have experience with the fitbit? For 50 bucks it better be more than just a pedometer lol.
I've been trying it out since Staples had them for $85 no tax AC using Rewards. I think it's really something that you have to try for yourself so you can find out if you can integrate it into your life. Just make sure you have a good return policy, and give it a serious try.
If you already use a pedometer *and* track your steps and floors climbed into calorie-budgeting software, then the only benefit of the fitbit one is sleep tracking (wake-up movement) and background/automatic syncing (after 1-time setup of the bluetooth adapter, and assuming you turn your computer on at least once a week).
BTW, I have the fitbit.com along with endomondo.com to myfitnesspal.com (all free accounts). Fitbit.com only gets used to capture the One data, for looking at my sleeping activity, and to tell Fitbit when it logged something as "steps" or "stairs climbed" when I wasn't, or anything already logged to endomondo. Endomondo *would* get used to capture exercise activity if I had any to capture/log (self-disappointed). MFP is the main food entry calorie-budget log. Ideally, Fitbit tracks enough steps and floors climbed from random errands that would be missed by manual tracking with pedometer or just a pad of paper; if it doesn't then the calorie use it tracks probably isn't worth the cost of the unit.
The other touted benefit of the Fitbit One is goal setting and tracking, but really, a pedometer and a little sticky note saying how many steps you want to take is about as cheap as it gets. So I say the Fitbit One is really for the automated tracking and the add'l bits it adds that's hard to get elsewhere (floors climbed, sleep movement), that just happens to also act as a pedometer *and* syncs to a good basic fitness-nutrition tracking website.
Why in the world are these selling for $135+ on eBay when Amazon has them for less than $100? Am I missing something?
I believe new Fitbit One sells for about $90 on eBay, although there are some listings that have sold for higher. And it's probably a good idea not to scratch your head over ebay outliers.
