Should we continue to give money and weapons to Egypt?
Honestly, why are we still giving money and military weapons to a country that will probably use them against us or our allies in the future? I'm sorry but the new regime in Egypt is not our ally. The country is bordering on collapse. The military is deciding whether to seize control. These are the people who get our latest and greatest military technology? What are we thinking?
"The weakness and intransigence of both sides have empowered anarchic forces such as the police, unreformed since the fall of the Mubarak regime, hooligans and unemployed young men, who in the past week have battled one another in Cairo and cities along the Suez Canal, killing scores. Meanwhile, the army, also outside the regime’s control, deliberates over whether to restore order, seize power for itself or remain on the sidelines."
Four F-16 fighter jets left the U.S. this morning, bound for Egypt as part of a foreign aid package critics say should have been scrapped when the nation elected a president who has called President Obama a liar and urged that hatred of Jews be instilled in children.
A source who works on the naval air base in Fort Worth, Texas, confirmed the departure of the state-of-the-art fighter planes to FoxNews.com. Sixteen F-16s and 200 Abrams tanks are to be given to the Egyptian government before the end of the year under a foreign aid deal signed in 2010 with then-Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, a longtime U.S. ally.
Critics, including several in Congress, say it doesn't make sense to follow through with the package, given that new Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, elected last summer, has given decidedly mixed signals about relations with the U.S.
To be honest, it does not matter what we think. The federal gov will continue to supply Egypt, Afghanistan,Syria and other "friendly" countries with our tax dollars.
We need to sell democracy, and our leaders think the only way to sell it is with money.
Side note speaking of Afghanistan- take a look @ "Restrepo" it is a National Geo documentary about a group of US soldiers fighting for Afghanistan's democracy.
the Gov't credit card is maxed out, and in debt by 16 TRILLION now? (give or take a trillion, who's counting) ... I'd say ...mmmmm, NO! all that will do is get more religious extremists pissed at the US for helping Egypt...
most definitely not. My wife, who is Coptic (Egyptian Orthodox Christian Church) was fuming when she heard about the 20 F-16's and 200 top-of-the-line Abrams tanks Obama is sending...she has never heard of Ayn Rand or Galt's Gulch (where producers give up and "retire") , and doesnt get into political and economic policies as I do, but she instinctively voiced the exact same sentiment to me: "why am I working and paying all these taxes, so Obama can take my money and use it to give away, not even sell, weapons to the Muslim Brotherhood...I might as well stay home and not contribute to this with my taxes"
MB is NOT our friend...they will stab us in the back the first chance they get...Successive US administration never seem to learn that they can not trust muslim fanatics...they will act nice to get what they can from us, and then turn on us like rabid dogs...exactly what Bin Laden did.

The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism',they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened - Norman Thomas,6-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America
The federal government has taken too much tax money from the people, too much authority from the States, and too much liberty with the Constitution - R. Reagan
I want my tax dollars to stop leaving the US period. There are even plenty of programs in the US I'd prefer to limit the funding of also.
While I agree in general, I think in the case of Israel the US gets more benefits than costs. Somebody needs to contain Iran, Hezbollah, and the Muslim Brotherhood and it clearly won't be 0bama. Israel is much better at it anyway and it is cheaper to help them now than sort it out on our own later.
