If so, that would pit it head-to-head against the upcoming xbox release later this year. Durango vs. Orbis, MS vs Sony, just like old times. Should be interesting.

I don't plan to buy anything at release, and obviously a PS4 will not be on the top of MY list, but to get progress you need competition so I hope this blows MS out of the water.

I agree with you guys. I have a large backlog on my PC & PS3 right now. I don't see myself being ready for another console until at least 2015.

Depending on the price point, I may be willing to throw down on Project Shield though.

Don't forget Sony bought Gaikai (cloud gaming) last year; although with all the speculation about this event for the PS4, Sony should at least show a tech demo for PS4's capabilities at this event now to avoid hype backlash.

If a game looks good, it looks good - stop counting lines people; "Needs 4K resolution because that's a bigger number!", 4K is only good to freeze-frame movies to read newspaper article props, so yeah, pretty farking useless CPU power for gaming and just useless to begin with. TV and movies are 24fps, so 30fps is plenty fine. I'd rather have wider screens and thus wider views in games (see: 21:9 TVs).

Have you done much PC gaming? 60FPS is much better than 30 or 24. I don't see the general public buying into 21:9 either, I don't even see 4K taking off soon. 1080p @ 60FPS is a completely reasonable expectation, however.

I used to play PC games heavily on a top of the line custom, computer from 2004 (list: Joint Operations, C&C: Generals, Unreal Tournament 2K4, W:ET, Halo). Most notably, I've played Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory for a few years with the fps counter on the HUD. Consoles can lock fps so much better. But 60fps will not be a standard (for next-gen), gamers will still demand better graphics and fps will be "compromised" on consoles, just like with every 3D console gen - this won't be different.

Now that I've seen that PC toubleshooting gaming weren't worth the headaches; I was physically nauseous when watching the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 stage demo on my TV during E3 2012 (had to look away a few times).

For a second I was thinking another Wii U abomination and was worried but then i read that it was just like a DS3 but with the select and start buttons replaced with a small touchpad.

I still play WolfET from time to time, I used my netbook to run it as a server with Jaymod at the last LAN party I went to
The advantages you gain from gaming on a PC outweigh the disadvantages, though, and I say that having a gaming laptop, Wii, PS3, and 360 (and a 3DS...)
