So I'm not very technical when it comes to components, but I've read that Xbox 360/PS3 could handle Battlefield 3 with 64 players; it's just Microsoft and Sony capped the "bandwidth" (why could this not be increased with a firmware update?). Have any of the leaked next-gen documents hinted at increasing console "bandwidth"? 0x⁰x₀ - 1x¹x₁ - 2x²x₂ - 3x³x₃ - 4x⁴x₄ - 5x⁵x₅ - 6x⁶x₆ - 7x⁷x₇ - 8x⁸x₈ - 9x⁹x₉

I guess this [bandwidth increase] can only ever be answered by the announcement of a next-gen Battlefield. A personal, important detail which I'll be waiting on. Last edited by Nikzilla90; 02-01-2013 at 11:47 PM.. |

You know for me, the big thing that would keep me on xbox is the group of people I play games with. xbox has turned into mostly multiplayer for me. I think that is the deciding factor for buying the next gen console. I could get both but doubt I would play both. I already have my gift cards to buy xbox, gift cards at 20% off. So not bad. just waiting to spend them

It doesn't really matter what the specs for each system are. Honestly, unless one just completely annihilates the other performance wise, I will end up going with whatever my group of buddies ends up buying. Who knows, I may be the first one to buy the next-gen.

Just don't start activating your XBL GOLD cards until after E3, people. Actually, I believe we'll see a huge PS4 reveal (not just tech demos or Gaikai or PSP Vita redesign), blow-out in 18 days, so less people don't feel obligated to buy the next Microsoft console before they already extended their XBL GOLD subscriptions. Likewise, if Microsoft were smart they would start some XBL GOLD subscription sales soon.

If psn stays free and incorporates a decent party system, I will be very tempted to go that route (although I will probably buy both eventually). I realize XBL isn't outrageously expensive but it is compared to free. I really like how Sony has made paid content completely optional. If you don't pay up you can still play online with the games you bought. And IMO, Sony has done a pretty decent job of making ps+ tempting (although the price still seems a bit high to me).
