Norton rebates have been great for the last several years but now seems like a terrible time to try any more. I'm taking a wait and see approach. Too much $$ if it's not a sure thing.

Complaint to the State Attorney Generals Office filled out online should take care of it for fraudulent advertising.

Wow. This is sad news. Fry's Symantec rebates were one of the most dependable and fastest rebates ever. I have been doing this since Fry's started offering FAR for Symantec. I would do 2 or 3 copies each year and have received every single one of the rebates. Total bummer

Not worth the risk at $75 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


File a complaint online to the State Attorney Generals Office in their state, CA, for false advertising and rejection of your rebate. You'll get it. Form takes 5 minutes.

This time it's different. It's not "invalid UPC code" or similar nonsense that gets fixed with a phone call. Symantec and/or Parago are willfully violating the terms of their rebates by arbitrarily denying claims and refusing to budge when challenged.

If Symantec can't be trusted to honor a rebate, how can they be trusted to secure a computer?

I told you, mine were approved from the last Fry's offer a few weeks ago. I purchased instore, not online, and I presubmitted the $50 rebate. Perhaps one or both factors played a part in my rebates being made valid, or I just got lucky. In any case, I plan to keep doing Norton rebates, just as I have (successfully) for the past 7 years. If I happen to get rejected, I save my copies and will take it up with my local Fry's if I get nowhere arguing my case with Symantec.

If you intend to buy, that's probably your best strategy. However, I'm not even going to take the chance because Fry's has not been proven to be a definitive path to getting a rebate honored.

interesting point you bring up, but we still need to find out the exact reason that is causing people to have their rebates invalidated, like submitting excessive rebates in a certain amount of time.

To me, unless the terms of the rebate explicitly define "excessive" or otherwise state 1 per product per year, then Symantec is choosing not to honor its rebates either directly or by not stomping on Parago for making such arbitrary decisions. Either way, their actions show that they cannot be trusted.
