It might not be as far off as you think. If you run your lights 4 hours/day and pay .12 per kWh, you will pay $1.66 per year for the LED and $11.39 for the 65W incandescent.

If you are already on CFL, then it doesn't make sense, but that shit is ugly and you can't put a price on that.

Adding to what you said. Outside of the EcoSmart box has the dimensions. I think it required 6.5" depth, but that's from memory. It's important to note that this measurement is to the top of the can, not the adjustable height plate that holds the socket. You'd have to remove the adjustment plate in your can to make the measurement. When installing the EcoSmarts, you remove the adjustable plate, detach the socket from it and let it hang loose. Then you screw in the bulb, and the new EcoSmart light holds itself up into the can using spring loaded clips.

I got 20-some of these a while back for about $11.50 each after rebate and coupons. It was new construction so I got the LED cans for less than I would've paid for just the trim kits otherwise. Amazing deal and amazing lights. I love them. Now I just need to find some low wattage dimmers to work better with them.

Utility companies in some states underwrite them instead of having rebates. They are 26.97 in NY but $19 over the border in CT.

Just got a couple of ecosmarts. they're great. I have also tried others like the Costco one for $25 and Utilitech Pro. The ecosmarts are my favorite, but the Costco one is better where you want a little whiter and significantly brighter light. The ecosmarts are only 575 lumens, but they're CRI (light quality) is 90 which is the best I'm aware of.
