The Costco one at about 1100 lumens puts out a lot of light. I had the most trouble installing it though, due to the design of the wire thingies that hold it in.

Also, Lowe's sells a Utilitech Pro unit that puts out a little more light. I like it, but think I'm going to return it for the ecosmarts since I think the advantages of the ecosmarts outweight the advantages of the slightly brighter output of the Utilitechs... plus the ecosmarts are $30 and the Utilitech is $35.

I would try it out. Even with the slightly lower lumens, the LED fixtures end up putting off far more even and consistant light than their incandescent counterparts.

I second Rack, I have 12 of these in my home and they are MUCH brighter than the specs say. The light is more like an incandescent in color, very warm. I had gotten into a few discussions(near arguments) with a friend about how wonderful the ecosmart 6in led replacement lights are and how warm the light is. He didnt believe me until he came over for a party i had over newyears and after seeing these in action, he shut up and went to buy a few himself. They are pricer here in michigan, but the price is finally starting to come down. I have 3-7 more lights to replace, but I will hold out until the price dips a bit more. the lights I use the most have been replaced and they work great! Was one heck of an investment a year and half ago, but couldnt be happier. Work great with dimmers too.

I used the print out of this location showing the $19.97 pricing, and went to a store in N. CA to try to match it. Generally, they don't do store to store price matching, especially from different districts, but the store manager that I talked to was willing to sell me 10 of the Ecosmarts at $25 each, which is the lowest price that they've had the item in the past (currently at $34.97), so I bought the 10 units, and saved $100!

cool I put in 17 of them plus another 10 LED gimble style lights. Cost about $400 for all but now lal the recessed lights in my house + porch are LED. Yay!
