Quit going to outback a year or so ago. Prices are too high for the average quality food. Here in Ga Texas Roadhouse blows outback away.

Called in order for 2 bacon cheddar burgers from down the road. Drove about 15 mins home and fries where cold and soggy. So I'm sure they had been sitting for a while. Burgers were ok, worth about $5 I guess. If I paid $10 each, I would not be happy at all.

I meant to discuss tipped....and forgot.

I can't speak for OBSH, but I know that Applebee's curb-side to go service has unique servers. They are paid a small amout more than in-store servers ($3.xx vs. $2.xx), and rely heavily on tips from patrons.

I tip on take-out if they bring it to my vehicle. I do not tip if I have to get out and go in to pick up on my own. That's the standard in our area, which gives you a choice. Around here, if you call for take-out, those that offer the curbside will inquire. This allows you to decide tip or no tip for to-go orders.

I tend to tip 20% or higher for inside dining.
I tend to tip 10% or higher for curbside service.
I do not tip for take-out that I pick up from inside the facility.

Have a super day folks! Tip your servers well - more often than not, when issues happen, it's not caused by the server. Too many others in the process to take your frustrations out on the server.wavewave

JMHO and not stated as absolutes.

mostly agree with your assessment/practices except for the last part. the server is the person who should do the final check against the ticket to ensure everything is as ordered and in the bag. really tans my hide when i get home and then realize they missed something obviously missing that could have easily been caught by someone doing their job.

Thanks OP. I placed an order to go for cheeseburgers and I was charged $1 more for aussie fries. Manager took that additional charge off with no problem. Did that happen to you guys?

After 15 minutes any fries would be soggy and cold no matter how hot and crisp they were at the beginning of the 15 minutes. Best to go with the baked potato.

Cashed in the deal yesterday and I was surprised at the cost/value. Their sandwiches are about on par with Red Robin and a bit tastier in my opinion. I was a bit surprised by our waiter, he was actually quite excellent. I've had too many male waiters in the mediocre to crappy category.

Maybe I go out with the guys too much. They see a bunch of guys and assume they're not going to tip well, give crappy service and it becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. I digress...

When the orders arrived, we were both surprised. My sandwich, cut in half was smaller than a McD burger. I had 7 fries on the platter also - so ... it was worth maybe $5.50 as a lunch item.

The cobb salad came in a 7 ounce cereal bowl (size of a small side salad). There was no chicken, no bacon, no egg....just lettuce, tomatoes, 7 strands of cheese.
Be interesting to try ordering that when they're not offering the pseudo bogo coupon. Maybe someone who lost half their brains somewhere decided that they should give small portions to reduce the cost of offering the bogo, thereby causing everyone who goes to never go again because the food portions are tiny.

Sometimes people forget what the intent of a 'promotion' is. Hint: its not keeping your costs to a minimum...laugh out loud

Had a grilled chicken entry with another Mahi entry. Coffee and Iced Tea. The total was $34 with tax. Came down to $24 after $10 off. Left $4.50 tip. So total for two good meals was $28.50, bit pricy for small portion lunch but we did like the food. We will go again if there are good coupons. By the way this was my first visit there.

Please review your accounting. Net margin is the percentage left over after all expenses and burdens are deducted. Most corporations achieve 5% to 8% net margin, retail stores usually get 10%, though discounters trim that to the 5% range. Restaurants typically achieve 20% to 90% net margin, since they charge a huge premium for "service".

If you know of any retailer than achieves better than 10% net margin, please share - we could make a million if we could find such a business.
Most people I work with are referencing margin as gross, not net. Then again I work in the production side so net takes a bit longer for those numbers to settle. Hence my statement.

I didn't read the fine print, presumed like most bogo coupons the cheaper meal would be free.
We had lunch plates of $9 & 7.25 and they deducted $9. Also had one the best servers I've ever had anywhere.

Not impressed with Outback. Went there yesterday to use the BOGO coupon.

First off, didn't read the fine print about $10 limit, which I guess was our mistake. The day before we ate at Applebees with a BOGO freee coupon and there wasn't a dollar limit.

I ordered the salmon for about $15 and my wife had a pasta and shrimp thing for the same price. they brought out supposedly a loaf of bread which was about the size of a breadstick at Pizza Hut. My salmon was a piece about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long. Luckily I substituted a plain baked potato for the mixed veggies. It was fairly good sized. My wife went through her meal fairly quickly even though it was supposedly the larger size.

The waiter then brought the check and wisked it away when he saw my wife had left her CC on the table when she left for the restroom. He had taken our BOGO coupon when we ordered, which is the way they say to use them. When he dropped off the bill on his way to another table I noticed that they had not taken the coupon off. My wife had him take back to correct. That is when we noticed that they only took off $10. I did notice on the survey receipt I took home that it has the corrected amount but then a line or two later it shows my wife's cc inf with the higher amount on that line. Guess we will have to check her statement closely next month.

So looking at the two experences in a two day period, our final check was 2-3 dollars less at Applebees for more expensive entrees. My wife and i both got a box to take home from Applebees for the portion we couldn't eat, even considering we ate later in the day and were more hungry. Outback wasn't worth the price even with a coupon

Just our experience, hopefully not they run all their restaurants.
