Thanks but when you try to check out it makes you select a specific store. I think the Extreme6 specifically is the problem, bummed this combo for under $250 has been on my list for a few months.

I have this same setup - gigabyte UD3p and q9650

I am considering upgrading but really find no point but im having some issues getting a fully stable overclock. Its at 3.8ghz and im booting fine but once in a blue moon for no reason chrome or the line will 'error' out. Can you share your settings with me?

So 3770k wouldn't give the $50 discount?

I'll pm you some settings I got mine up to 4.4 for a couple benches on air. I know the MCH ref is a needed but touchy setting.

The reason I upgrades is I sold the setup separate on ebay and it paid for the new system which uses less power and OC's higher. i really liked the gigabyte setup but when I look at used prices of the stuff on ebay it was a no brainer to upgrade for free.

Incorrect. The Extreme6 is using a Broadcom BCM57781. All of ASRock's Extreme series boards, with the exception of the Extreme 11, use the Broadcom chipset. The Extreme 11 has dual Intel's.

For anyone that has purchased a motherboard from Microcenter online, did you have any problems with the board and have to do an RMA to them, and then how did that process turn out? I don't have a MC near me so any returns would have to be shipped.

Same price as back during/after black Friday. Snagged this setup and a case from Microcenter and the rest from Newegg for a very economical awesome gaming build (GT670 video card in case anyone cares). Very easy bios to navigate and there are some GREAT youtube videos with how to's if you, like me, haven't built a system for a couple generations of CPU/MOBO and all the new lingo.

They don't want to ship the CPUs, because they sell them as loss-leaders. They know that many people start their build with the CPU they want and will come into the store for the great prices and great CPU-Motherboard combos. Once in the store, they're likely to buy higher-margin items as they complete their build, interact with the store's staff, and see other products they might need/want/impulse buy. That's why MC is able to undercut prices even on online retailers that don't have the same overhead.

I'd assume that PC builders shop online at a significantly higher rate than the general public. When comparing online shopping (where the customer might not even need to pay sales taxes on a couple of clicks) to B&M shopping, Microcenter needs to overcome a lot more inertia to get people purchasing what are otherwise the same products. You see people in every Microcenter thread debating whether or not it's worth the time and driving distance to buy a CPU, motherboard, or combo. Further, the commitment of making the commute to Microcenter often leads people to make more purchases- or at least consider more purchases. Their investment of the time and cost of driving to the store- as well as seeing, touching, and interacting with products- makes it much easier for them to commit to buying other products.

True, they are thinking for themselves, but SDers dont really care lol As you saw, during BB fiasco, most SDers did not care if BB runs into ground
So in order not to play by MC's rules, I pm stuff at BestBuy lol
But I don't think you can get this MB at BB, but can PM MC's price for CPU

Not quite sure how you selling your old system equated to your new one being free unless you somehow got rid of the CPU for a ridiculous price. I just dont feel like formatting and my system with my gtx 470 seems to run everything fine I just want to get it a little more stable. Thanks for the help (repped)

Thanks! I literally ordered a Extreme4 and 3570K off newegg a few hours back. Came out to be $370 shipped with them. With microcenter. Its 252 after tax I might get hit with restocking fees with newegg but still save some $$$
