I already have a Nikon 18-55 and a Nikon 55-200. is it worth buying this to avoid having to switch lenses?

Tamron makes some decent glass when it comes to zooms like these... Although sometimes Nikkor refurbished versions can get near this price.

This is considered a "vacation lens", as someone previously eluded to. Most amateur shutterbugs (people with the pro-sumer DSLRs like the Canon T2i, T3i, T4i line) appreciate these types of lenses so they don't have to switch from an 18-55 then to a 55-250 for longer range shooting.
Personally, I have the Sigma 18-250 (still going for just over $400) and use it all the time, but if I'm shooting indoors, I'll throw on my Canon 230 flash or switch to my Sigma 30 prime f/1.4 lens. Yeah, for someone looking for a more "professional" lens, it would probably be best to spend the $$ for something a little better...but a lot of people will find good use for this lens at a great price.
