I *think* this is a direct lit LED, not edge lit... so that accounts for the extra depth.

from my account books, am realizing am buying way too many things from TD of late..they are springing deals much better than Amazon or any other retailer in their category. and while they still tack on rebates with the intent that the customer might not send them out, they still respect the redeemed rebates in record time and with full tracking. This is a retailer that's trying hard, so am giving them my business

Their support still leaves a lot to be desired. Email is virtually non existent with 7 days elapsing in one of the issues I had. Phone hold times are very unacceptable as well. Its in these aspects they have a great deal to catch up to Amazon. But still this is a differenct company from the shady one that prevailed until a few years ago

That would be good if it was direct lit since that's superior to edge lit, correct? I thought I read it's better because it does "local dimming" or something which is better for contrast ratio?

Regardless, 1.77" isn't very thick, IMO.

right. also, less/no edge bleeding and overall better PQ also. I know the 50" one that I've been eyeing gets VERY good reviews for picture quality.

Well, the one review on TD of this TV says that he/she bought it for his/her yacht and that they like it.

You know, because most yacht owners shop exclusively at TD.

Amazon reviews are mostly positive, but aren't stellar.

For $200 though it seems like a pretty good deal.
