Thread Details

Staples.com has the Livescribe Echo 4g [staples.com] smartpen on clearance for $79.99. Store availability is YMMV. My local Staples showed low stock, but it actually meant no stock.

Staples also has the 2g model selling at $119.99. Amazon is currently selling the 4g for upwards of $100. There is a newer model called the Sky, but the blogosphere seems at odds over whether the new one is better.

What are they saying about the Sky? I just found out, myself.

The 4GB Echo is in stock online with free shipping. Oh, are you looking in stores because discounts might be higher?

$80 matches the Black Friday price at livescribe.com.

I like the Starminen ink refill better than Livescribe's because I feel they move more smoothly across the page. $15 for 5 tips (0.7 mm or 1.0 mm) shipped from Switzerland though. Never did find a US supplier.

You are better off buying the paper in bulk off ebay. I got 2 sets of 4 notebooks (1-8), 2 small A5 notebooks, 2 journals, a pack of sticky notes (800 total), and a small pocket journal for $40.

Do you know if the upload of data from the pen to the cloud is automatic?

Thanks for the great tip on the paper. Is there a good seller you used in the past?

The Sky replaces their desktop software with an automatic link to Evernote. The Echo will export to Evernote, OneNote, etc, but I'm not sure how smooth.

I was looking in store because I didn't want to wait until Monday to play with it. Immature, but true.

I got my Pulse way back about 4-5 years ago. I lost it about 2 years ago and got the 8GB Echo for $100 off eBay brand new a few months back.

I aced Spanish thanks to this. I just wrote down the sentence and it translates. The special paper can be printed from home as well... There is no special ink..... Just a regular pen cartridge. Livescribe sells theirs but I just use BiC.
