Not sure why this isn't getting more attention. Trying to decide between the 300 and the wave for the old man, any advice? Most of what i've read says the wave is better which probably why it warrants slightly higher price, but the tools are slightly different...

Most people complain that the 300 is too bulky and heavy, even though Leatherman makes it clear that it is part of their "Heavy-duty" category. If it's for a work environment, I prefer the 300 over the Wave.
Though, the Wave's smaller size and ability to use the blades without opening it up have helped it become the more popular one. Plus, some people like having the option to use different bits, and that bit kit accessory in the second link holds up to 20 bits.

Received the 300 today and it is certainly heavy duty. This should last a lifetime provided I do not lose or misplace it. This is my first Leatherman. Might buy a lighter version for backpacking.
