Shop Discover is not a card...it is an option to purchase "items" through retailers who have signed up with Discover i.e. Expedia 5% CB, Old Navy 5% CB, etc. Shop Discover is just a form of Cash Back using retailers who have partnered with Discover.

ok i had gotten confused, the former "discover more" is now the "discover it", and the discover it has offers for that card such as "shopdiscover"..i broke down and signed up for discover it, seems like they have good deals.

Not necessary. I bought a Kia Rondo 4 years ago when the economy was really bad and they offer $4000 off on 2008 models. I paid less than the blue book value for a year old car of the exact model.

Most dealers will have a limit of $2500 or $5000 (at least back 7 years ago then they did).

Either way, if you have $1500 in cashback bonus even, and negotiate $2500 off sticker, then get another $1500 "bonus" cashback it's a solid deal.

I wonder how a dealership would react if you managed to negotiate invoice price and paid with GC's, in full

When I purchased a Saturn 16 years ago, I put up to the credit limit on my Discover card to earn cash back. The rest I paid with cashier check.

Invoice price is ok -- you should be below invoice for a good deal

Doubt the dealer cares about GCs since they get full GC amount (if these are like prepaid debit cards then they may have to eat a 2-3% processing fee) -- Discover & Kia probably have some agreement to eat the 50% loss (Kia mostly)

Discover's website shows you can buy as many Kia GCs as you want but doesn't mention how many GCs you can use for a car purchase or car service or if there's a max GC limit

If this deal stays, I will transfer all my future cash back into Kia GC.

Got my GC in and it is a Discover Card with the Kia Logo. Looks like it will run like a Disc Card at the Kia dealer. Went to the dealer and they said they wouldn't have issue using more than one card for my tires

uhh.. so you mean to say it's an actual Discover GC.. As in "use it anywhere" GC?
