DSL deal or internet service for San Diego

I am getting charged $43 a month for 3 mbps connection. I want to cancel as that is too expensive.

Anyone know any deal for internet service?

I already called AT&T and they do not want to give me a new $14.95 / month for one year even after I threaten to cancel. Since I have not shopping around, I want to really cancel the next time I call them again.

What is my option?

Tell them you want to be transferred to rentention dept., I don't think there is a direct # for them. Don't jack around w/the regular CS. I do this yearly, just did it lasr week in fact. Have never had to do anything more than ask nicely to keep my current rate for another yr. Of course YMMV.

I had been doing that and it worked. This year. No go. They told me to go to dsl extreme. Called back and tried a different rep a few times, yes with retentions, same line. One rep explained they don't do that anymore. They did offer me a lesser deal. I pay $38/month for 3MBs DSL + phone service. Eh...
