Also the rumor for the 8000 series is supposed to be rebadged 7000 cards for OEMs. So its alot more than 2 months for next gen cards. |

As for price drop, not sure if we're going to see anything dramatic for a while - AMD made it pretty clear that they're sticking to their plan of adding value through use of game bundles. Personally I think ~$250 AR, games or no, is the ideal killer price for 7950. The longer they wait to do this, though, the less cards they'll sell as people begin to hold out for the new stuff. Ditch the games, go ~$250 AR and sell 'em til they're gone... Last edited by toolio20; 02-02-2013 at 07:07 AM.. |

Your statement makes is sound as if the 8000 series will simply be rebadged/tweaked 7000 series hardware. Not true. And irrelevant - I'm pretty sure next to no one is interested in putting an OEM graphics solution in their gaming rig (unless it was some fluke of incredible price/performance which is unlikely based on the intrinsic nature of OEM parts) so including these parts in a discussion about consumer graphics cards is silly. The Sea Islands series most of us associate with "HD 8000" will be second generation GCN architecture, whereas GTX 700 series looks to be a refresh/tweak of GK114. |

Myself and others consider it to be a reliable source of hardware news. However I trust their reporting especially considering Anands source ![]() http://www.amd.com/us/Documents/A...ummary.pdf Which is a rebadged 7950 boost being called a 8950 boost I really wish AMD didn't name them this way since it's can be confusing to many people, but it is what it is and that's what their OEM partners want. The cards most of the enthusiast care about is most likely Q4. (could be called 9000 series) |

![]() You're just not getting it. You keep talking about OEM parts. If you truly believe AMD will release what all of us here are interested in as the 9000 series then make that your sticking point, but don't muddy up the waters by equating GCN2 cards with these OEM variants. Stop. Please. You need to look for information on Curacao. That's a freebie. Quit talking about OEM parts and stay on topic. |

Wow, hate it when these pretty-good deals start showing up on video upgrades only 6 months after I've built a system that I deluded myself into thinking was fairly future-proof. My 6-core AMD box is running two 6870's in crossfire on a 1080p monitor---more than adequate for most games, but I suspect swapping in a single 3Gb 7950 should give me noticeably better performance at full resolution (without the occasional SLI image glitchiness) and, I'm betting, probably somewhat less power consumption/heat than two 6870's. But the deal would probably have to drop closer to $200 to make me think about biting.

Seems that older series (6000 and below) aren't having the same driver troubles with the artifact/flicker issues as the GCN 7000 series cards, so there's always that. I think you're better off waiting for the Enjoy what you've got for now and game on... |

I just about of the pny gtx 670 a couple day ago from ncix for $260 AR, the fan is loud just as expected from review. I can put up with it buy wearing a headphone. PLease advise if I should return the 670 and get the shappire hd 7950 instead. Thank you very much

I was just waiting for a Crysis 3 deal, then they added Bioshock Inf to seal it. ![]() |

Hi, I've been looking for a gpu (had a gtx 670 ftw, but sold it because a friend needed it and I thought I wasn't going to play pc games anymore) and I recently bought the Dell UltraSharp U2713HM, so I'm going to need a strong gpu for this. What gpu do you guys recommend? I was thinking about the XFX 7970 black edition?
