I haven't taken apart an Apple laptop before but I know some electronics need to be serviced in a clean room ( e.g. a HDD). LCD screens must have another layer on them. Sometimes when you buy parts you don't get the complete thing ( e.g. you just get the screen alone and no glass coating). If Apple would distribute the complete thing , then using a clean room would be a waste. Obviously Apple doesn't make the panels for any of their devices ( Samsung and LG mostly do). Here is an example: http://www.planarembedded.com/cus...ng-FAQ.pdf If you have just an LCD screen with no additional layers , you would need a clean room to add another layer ( e.g. glass) on top on it. Edit: A lowly Apple computer technician is allowed to disassemble an Apple computer but I'm not allowed to? Last edited by dubleo; 02-02-2013 at 11:53 AM.. |

![]() do you expect them to send you a LCD screen in parts? use a sputtering chamber to construct the required pcb or what? ![]() you do not need a clean room to either manufacture, service or repair laptops, all components are delivered in a ready-to-use state, even to apple themselves. "A lowly Apple computer technician is allowed to disassemble an Apple computer but I'm not allowed to?" yes, because that is what apple has decided from personal experience barely any manufacturer wants you to open up their device and attempt to, or repair it yourself |

Yes , some people do exchange platters and a clean room is needed for that. An LCD screen has many parts so it would not be unreasonable to assume that one manufacturer may not have completed everything and left another manufacturer to do the rest ( e.g. special coatings) You don't see LG adding Gorilla Glass coatings to their screens by themselves. Corning does that for them. Also in response to your last statement : Lenovo currently sends certain parts for people to fix it themselves ( the current ThinkPad keyboard is an example of this). If you were to do something like that with an Apple computer , Apple could easily void your warranty. Last edited by dubleo; 02-02-2013 at 12:09 PM.. |

![]() I don't sympathize with Apple customers at all. After all, they voluntarily buy the products and trust the "geniuses" to fix their stuff. |

You DO have a need to show off all your toys. Nobody cares that you have a BMW that you overpaid for. You ARE insecure that you need to look at people's post history to put them down about anything they may have said. Nobody cares enough to look at your history and point our irrelevant talking points that have nothing to do with the current thread. You are a tool for that one. And how is flipping burgers a 9-5 job? Did you not learn anything in college? I don't know, I am the imbecile here, right?...... (those trailing dots emphasize sarcasm, didn't want a genius like you miss that) Last edited by mitul2288; 02-02-2013 at 06:02 PM.. |
