I have been looking for the best deal on a Windows tablet and came across these guys on Viewsonic's factory store:

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Tablet - $299
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...-10pi.html

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Ready Tablet - $149
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...no-os.html

Viewsonic must be blowing these out, because the cheapest price I could find for the $299 version with Windows 7 pre-installed is $499.99 on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Viewsonic-V...ewpad+10pi

I was able to buy that $39.99 Windows 8 upgrade special from Microsoft before it expired yesterday and was thinking about using that to do a clean install on the $149 version of this Viewsonic 10pi. That would give me a Windows 8 tablet for under $200.

What do you think? Does anyone know of a better deal out there on a Windows tablet?

the reviews are based on the retail price at release $500+
at this price, it is a different story
Also... only 4 hr battery life, which translate to 3 hrs. if you are lucky...

I wish someone had a video of it running Win8. Even if the network controller didn't work in Win8, you can always use a USB one.

I bit. It's a nice piece of hardware; hoping they'll honor the warranty if it's really bad. Going for the $149 version since I'm hoping for windows 8; if not then win 7 is cheap.

Same specs as the Dell Latitude ST, which was $200 new some time ago. It's not worth using Windows 8 with this, the drivers are flaky at best. Almost nothing works, I had to track down drivers for the wireless card to get that working, even then it fails sometimes. The two cameras, multi-touch, and HDMI-output, all refuse to function properly. This isn't worth getting unless it's for Windows 7.

Bought 2, 25 minutes apart. Order number only jumped by 6. Thought that this would blow up. Just read in the Dell Latitude ST review that the processor is slower than the N270. That was the CPU in those first Atom netbooks. Oops.

The hardware is worth the money but the reviews are pretty terrible and no development makes it a pass for me..

Really? It's older than N270, which already runs a little sluggish when I stream some videos on Arch with no desktop environment, at 1024x600, can't imagine how slow it'll crawl on Win 7.
If you can install some form of lightweight Linux distro that's touch oriented though, it might be better.

Apparently Z670 came out in mid 2011, while N270 in 2008.

It's got an ssd so win 7 shouldn't be that slow.

Got my confirmation immediately upon ordering both. I saved my info with a password on the first order and the second order used my saved address info.

SSD can only help with so much though, it certainly won't help with slideshows Wink.

According to
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Inte...115.0.html
it is indeed slower than the N270.
